OMT *** Spurs vs Bin Dippers ***

I actually agree with this [emoji28]

With the caveat that I believe GLC is good enough as well (he showed this last season, everyone is just forgetting for some reason).

We then have some players who are good enough to do a job assuming the system and instructions are correct such as

Aurier
Bergwijn
Vinnie
Bale
Davies
Lloris
Toby

Players whose quality is tbc

Tanganga
Doherty
Rodon

After the ones mentioned above I think we could lose every other player and feel no real loss.
Lo Celso hit the ground running with us but then got injured on international duty and seems to have spent as much time out as Lamela since then.

Guess when people see how Bruno Fernandes has carried ManU over the past couple of seasons it just makes a bit galling, considering we apparently had a choice between the 2 but suppose that Eriksen’s decision to hold out for Barca / Madrid also screwed us over there.

And you're echoing my point that he was not the problem and should've been backed earlier and more. Let's just walk away from this one mate
No i agreed the players get away Scot free too many time to me.
Their rarely if ever made accountable by fans. No manager sets their team up to make those errors like we saw yesterday or we saw last season at Brighton. No manager. Their not stupid managers, but it doesn’t mean the players aren’t stupid I’m afraid.

Yep
Can’t really argue with it although Dele could be in that list if Jose actually fancied him
I’ll add that Toby may not be the man anymore. I mean him not playing yesterday has bumped up his level of performance again before forgetting he got battered by the mighty Wycombe
Toby was one I ummed and erred about that's why he's at the bottom of that list. [emoji28] I think he's done physically, said so last season as well but I guess under a coach like Jose there's some use he can get out of a wiley older operator or at least should be able too.

Dele would also be in my 2nd list, I don't think he's he's indipensible but Jose doesn't rate him and I'm fine with that tbh.

We've signed 13 (?) players since the rebuild of the last team began - let's cut this same squad, same issues nonsense out eh?

I think most sides outside of City and Liverpool would look similar if you broke them down?

Core group of genuine quality supplemented by another group that when on form are worth their place in the team.

If Mourinho needs wall to wall quality I've git news for you him...
I disagree
Some are better than the sum of their parts as they play as a team that makes them look better.
That’s what good coaching can achieve

I think back to that summer and I try to work out the plan. The options we were reportedly in for were varied but so different from the style of player Poch had previously filled the midfield with so I find it a little hard to say for certain his plan.

It did seem to me as if the intention was to have a 2 of Ndombele and GLC and probably Bruno ahead. If you recall we were also strongly linked with Ceballos early in the window but pulled out. Im guessing he was to be another passing CM option from deep. Once the Bruno deal hit some difficulties I think we pushed ahead with the GLC deal because of his flexibility in being able to play deep and further forward.

I think he saw Bruno Fernandes (correctly) as the direct Eriksen replacement. I don't believe GLC was ever supposed to be primarily taking that role, the idea of increasing the midfield's quality by having the Ndombele and GLC pairing just makes too much sense to me but at the same time it's quite the departure from the more physical and combatative approach we usually took with him.

It's all water under a bridge now of course but overall a shame that we had that rather dramatic adjustment to our system and setup the very same season the team lost its way completely and that coach then lost his job without ever being able to put his new template into practise.

Really! It was all him for the 2nd? goal. So slow, half arsed and easily turned by Mane to get his shot off. It was pathetic.
You need to get your eyes checked.
Eh?
Hugo palmed the ball out to their player. I mean he literally laid on the volley for him
I’m not saying for one second Doherty was anything other than poor but the keeper does the basics well there and that’s not a goal

It wasn’t even a particularly hard shot, he should have held onto it.

He makes some really stupid decisions sometimes.
