OMT *** Spurs vs Bin Dippers ***

This could be Mourinho's real legacy.

Well it definitely won’t be winning the league cup. Anyone that thinks that we can beat City again after tonight’s performance is kidding themselves. Yes, we beat them before, but let’s face it, we defended for our lives and defended far better than we normally do. That day we had shape, we had organisation, and all of that appears to have left us behind sometime in 2020. City have kicked in to gear meanwhile. I really can’t see us winning the final.

And what’s more, in the past teams that reach the league cup final then often fall apart for the rest of the season. Certainly it’s what happened to us in 2008, leading to Ramos’s eventual departure. So on that basis, things aren’t likely to end well this season.

Those on here who are going imagine what a great a manager could do with this squad

Lloris Gazzaniga
Aurier Doherty
Regulion Davies
Dier Rodon
Alderweireld Sanchez
Hojberg Sissoko
Ndombele Winks
Lo Celso Dele
Son Lamela
Bergwijn Moura
Kane Vinicius

That ain't a bad squad - no one can use it as an excuse for the manager.

A manager who gets us performing greater than the sum of our parts has us challenging - especially in a season when the points total do be at the top is lower than usual.

We're currently performing lesser than the sum of our parts.

Yep. Contrast it with Liverpool, who have a well-coached system. No fit centre backs? No problem. Short of midfielders? Stick one of the youth players in there.

I am just...surprised. I expected Mourinho, of all people, to be well on top of the coaching -- the opposite of ol' Harry and his FRAAB. Maybe too many of our key players haven't got that game intelligence in them.

I just don't know. I'm too disappointed to make any sense tonight.
Why, oh why, play Doherty as a left wing back? He’s clearly shot of confidence and is heavily right footed. While Davies is no speed merchant, he’s got confidence, experience and a left foot. And to accommodate a relatively untried wing back system with Rodon up against mane and TAA? Bad call.

Poor team selection, Abysmal team performance. Strange half time subs. Only positives were Hojbjerg and Rodon (despite the error for the goal) Mourinho Out, please

Agreed. I never wanted Mourinho. For a while, we seemed to be improving as we achieved results against Arsenal and City, that led us to top the table. But let’s face it, our wins flattered to deceive, as we didn’t convince in either match. We were outplayed and left defending on both occasions. Kane’s performances this season, and Son’s, have almost masked our lack of improvement as a team. But tonight, and recent league performances, have shown that really we haven’t moved forward under Mourinho, and it’s time for him to either step up, or to go.

This is a great point, apart from those 2 no one else is scoring at all. We need better contributions from midfield and the other player in the front 3. Bergwyn looks decent but doesn't score much - i thought he had a good record at PSV.
Not totally true, Ndombele has scored recently as has Winks and Bale and Hojbjerg. :D

The squad might not be good enough to win the league, but it is a top 4 squad. Add a top-class manager on top and the minimum should be qualifying for the champions league, plus with a bit of luck a cup.
The main thing though is that there are squads in the league a lot worse than ours that play good football. Look at the likes of Villa, they are decent to watch and the squad is nowhere near ours plus they are not far off us in the league. FFS West Ham are ahead of us and nobody can claim that they have a better or even a squad equal to ours.

Well City haven't done too bad after winning the league Cup for the past 2 or 3 years

Was gonna like this because I agreed with every word until the last 3 words. I wasn’t there yet. But those last three words made me stop and think. I might not be as far away as I thought.
I’m there. If the football was turgid and we were getting results (like earlier this season) I’d be happier. But two wins in 8 games and the style we’re playing is simply not good enough. A cnuty manager is acceptable is he wins. And for me, a league cup is not enough.
