Scott Parker

I would hope that one of the lessons that everyone is hoping that he learnt from his time at Chelsea is not to try to change too much to quickly. All of the players you mention should have a role to play at Spurs next season.

The thing is even with the current team I don't think he would have to change the team too drastically with existing personnel. I can see an AVB team being:

GK : Gomes
RB: Walker
CB: Kaboul
CB: New Player
LB: Ekotto
DM : Sandro
CM: New Player
CM: Modric
RW : Bale
LW : Pienaar
CF : New Player

It's looking like we'll sign Verts and Sigs so that's two of three required players straight away. And we know we're in the hunt for a striker.

Dawson will struggle like Terry did I assume.
Defoe want out any way, and it's right time to sell due to age and contract.
Bale can play either inverted on the right, or wide on the left. Will obviously be a key player, could be left back, but think AVB will love BAE as well.
Lennon will probably be back up, he can hold width on the left. Able to punish teams from there as well.
Parker will probably struggle.
Huddlestone should be suited for the holding role, even if AVB play a high pressure game.

I don't have a problem with players losing their spots though, if they don't fit or aren't good enough then tough luck.
Sell and replace. As said there's a lot of english potential from the academy that should take the step up.

Agree with your post, we are well equiped to line up an AVB style team, and our transfer links would solve the few holes that are there.
I know you don't rate him, but do not rule out Giovani for the RW role neither, if there's a system he fits into it's AVBs - just a question of whether he can produce in the Premier League.

No you're right, I think Dos Santos may get plenty of game time under a manager such as AVB. It could well be that Bale will be moved to left back.

A central midfielder is what he is. People try to over complicate positions. He should be able to break up opposition attacks, be strong in the tackle and distribute the ball to the wings when in possession. Goals are a bonus.

That would be the worst thing we could ever do and the whole world knows it.

Maybe, maybe not. All depends if we can control games. Having Bale/Walker effectively acting as wing backs in a flat back 4 seems dangerous, but if you are dominating possession it's a weapon. And it may just force Bale to stay wide left, where he is at his best.

Bale staying out left IS what we need but without having to worry about defensive duties.

If we're dominating possession he wouldn't have to worry about defensive duties. I genuinely don't think our back four last season was much cop, but they were protected partly down to excellent DM performances but mainly down to the fact we kept the ball so well they just had less attacks to face, and therefore less chance to make mistakes.

You can't just dismiss defending though can you regardless of possession we're always likely to be caught on the counter. We need a solid left back to cover for him and, despite the fact you don't rate him, BAE isn't that bad. With Bale on the left and sticking to the left we can beat anyone and everyone.

Defending on the counter is suited to our defence as they have the best to recover.

Its funny how people continuously argue its EITHER Parker or Sandra. Let me explain something IT IS A SQUAD GAME. There is room for both and there are games when Parker is more suitable than Sandra and vice versa.

Away to Man bricky I would rather have Parker but at home to Reading I would have have Sandra.

Also it depends on formations - a 433 i think would require both.

I'm glad TMK put me on ignore, now I can laugh at him being hopelessly wrong yet again without an arduous debate to follow. Other than thinking Sandro's a snail, I like how he says Sandro could learn from Parker to play the ball quicker and play the way you face, that's funny considering Parker does that annoying spin routine a few times every game, by the time he's decided which way he wants to face, the opposition are back in their position and the move has broken down.

I Feel the same.

Neither will want to stay very long if they're not first choice.

I think that team is worse than Redknapp's first choice team last season but let's see who we get, the rest of our summer business and how the team develops before making too many judgements.

I think it's mostly dependant on who we get up front. It'll also depend on how our players adapt to the new system..

For me the biggest question is, what happens to Modric?

I do think that some fans need to steel themselves for the departure of some of their favourites, or at least prepare themselves for them not to play. Most Managers now have succumbed to the 4-5-1 fad, and that will ring changes to our first XI if people like it or not.

Of course but the striker has a lot of work to do in that formation and we would lose a lot of our potency without Lennon and VdV.
