Jose will be pleased to get through, but I bet he is seething at having to bring on Lo Celso and Kane to help secure the win.

The fact that Dele was one of the duo sacrificed does not bode well for him. This should have been a game for him to boss

As it was only our 4th game I am hoping some of the performances were just down to rustiness (Is that a word?) because to progress through the Group Stage we will need to improve, as the opponents SHOULD start to get stronger

How would you rate our players?

  • Elite Champions League = Son, Kane
  • PL Top 6 = Toby, Ndombele, LeCelco, Alli, Moura, Aurier? Sanchez? Doherty, Bergwijn
  • PL Midtable = Winks, Lamela, Davies

Bale and Reguilon tbc

A bit disappointed by Bergwijn recently, including tonight. Just doesn’t seem to be having much of an impact.
Feeling the pressure of the Bale Arrival in a bad way??? he most know Bale is a certain Starter along with Son and Kane.

Bit Harsh on Lamela. Not sure about Doherty yet.

Not harsh on Lamela at all, he's midtable standard. That might be enough to perform an ok sub role but we wouldn't him actually regularly starting games, his inadequecies would become painfully apparent to you.

@milo Aurier was decent, Ndombele grew into the game and looked more and more confident. Ndombele for me. He was giving us incision from midfield. Something we desperately need.

Nice to see Sanchez playing. At 24 he's still young for a CB. Can Mourinho get into his head and get a mentality and focus?

I don't think anyone can question the work rate of Ndombele today. He saved Davies' ass with a great run tracking back, and late on he was the deepest defender on the corner, and seconds later he was furthest up the pitch on the counter.
Seems very much to have gotten the message.

Poor opposition and a fairly slow moving game, nonetheless good to see him playing a full game and looking up for it.

Next couple of months could be very interesting from him.
