Jose Mourinho - SACKED

I think it would lack creativity around the box. I think one of the three behind Kane in a 4-2-3-1 needs to either be a quick passer like Eriksen or someone in the Hazard style who can beat someone with skill. I'm not sure pure pace + Dele works
IMo Dele can pass quick and clever around the box
It’s the rest of his game that isn’t suited IMO

I see Jose took more shots at City last night (“we need more than 10 or 11 good players and hopefully we can strengthen without breaking FFP”). I love him in that mode when he’s taking on and taking the tinkle out of other clubs and showing he’s not afraid of them. It’s when Jose turns on his own club and players that we have a problem. Right now, I’m loving his press conferences.
Agreed....but one never comes without the other:(

Another win and again signs that we are getting better, players who had dropped of the edge of a cliff under Poch are now looking like they care/enjoy playing again. Of course there is still a way to go but the signs are looking good and seeing some of the players with smiles on their faces again is a good sign.

Indeed but I am curious to see how this plays out. Because to be fair whilst everyone says ‘chequebook manager’ and ‘never stays at club for longer than couple of years’ he hasn’t been at a club like us previously. The pressure is lower, he doesn’t have to win the league or Champions League otherwise face the sack and doesn’t have a blank chequebook to recruit players. He has spoken about being here for a good few years, and whilst it might not happen and he does revert to type it also wouldnt surprise me if he doesn’t implode after a season or two as many are expecting....

Dele is instinctive though rather than a playmaker. Its more the latter which we need in the final third if we're playing two pacey wide forwards

Yep - 100% right, and a talk that the players need to have. I don't want nice players - I want good people at the club, of course, but when I watch my team on the field, I want them to be as ruthless, arrogant and murderous as it takes to win.

Enough hand-holding, these guys aren't young anymore. Time to be bastards.

And that's why he won't get rid of types like Lamela and Lucas. Both really nice guys, but on the pitch they do whatever it takes. If they can't get the ball back, they foul, and if there's an opportunity to be a clam, they take it! Jose loves players like that, and so do I!

Lo Celso, too - the thing I really like about him is how much grinta he has. He's quite capable of being a snarling leg-biter type when he needs to be, which is just fantastic to see from such an otherwise gifted player. :)

I agree you need players who aren't afraid to mix it but you need to be sensible when you commit a foul, silly fouls can give away goals or lead to suspensions. Many times you see teams share the fouls around to limit bookings, almost like basketball.

Lamela is a master at that, though - he almost never gets booked as much as his relentless, shark-eyed fouling would call for. :p
