Transfer thread

Attack wise Most have flopped, we’ll certainly this that hadn’t played abroad somewhere else
If we are talking Spurs then sure but around the PL not sure of that's really accurate. Ginola, Henry, Pires, Lacazette, Aubameyang (is French and started his career there), Anelka, Malbranque, Cantona, Hazard and Drogba just off the top of my head spring to mind.

Having a DM who loses 50% of his tackles is the same as having Harry Winks as your DM.
Not if he is making more than the guy who is actually meant to play DM
if a player attempts more of a good thing and fails a higher ratio, but still actually succeeds more, that’s better isn’t it.
A striker who takes ten shots and scores 1 is doing better than a striker who takes 5 shots and scores none
So would you prefer DM who attempts more and then makes more tackles, block and interceptions whilst not getting carded or one who doesn’t but is more successful with the fewer ones he takes (whilst still posting good numbers)

Anelka came here as a 16 year old with no fee so IMO isn’t relevant

but of the rest
Ginola, yes an experienced proven player both there and here
Henry, failed in italy before coming to England and changing positions
Pires yep class after a season
Lacazette... not sure if he has been a success or not p. They want rid which I find odd myself
Aubameyang came via Germany so already had gone through the change of clubs
Malbranque was solid but never that great
Cantona same as Ginola
Drogba came from France via growing up sometime in Ivory Coast.
hazard was proven too and showed that class here apart from the season he took off

from that I’d say you get two extremes, record buys that seem to work and bargain buys that are low risk
Pepe is a record buy now and he looks like a flop after a season but he could easily turn into a Pires

I think it’s a weak league out there and the players that succeed when moving either need to be insanely talented or have a hell of a belief in themselves and there not common characteristics in that league from what I’ve seen. Look at Martial for example, he can be brilliant or non existent with very little in between.

Not necessarily. I would rather my DM didn’t get beat.... stand up, slow them down, cover the right player/angle to stop the pass... and when you do go in for a tackle then make sure you win it.

Get him in..... He's the Real.be

I cant say that CB was top of the list for me to strengthen this summer if we're only bringing 2-3 bodies in, however from the clips which I saw this guy looks like a brute of a CB, kind of like Mourinho likes.

So if we can get him for that sort of price then perhaps we use Tanganga more at full-back next year and go with Dier, Kim, Toby and Sanchez as our CBs.

Then for 4 full-backs, I could see us keeping Davies and Tanganga, ideally signing a RB and then perhaps keeping Foyth. Sell Aurier and KWP. Would patch us over a difficult summer and give Cirkin and Sessegnon a chance to see whether they emerge to look like they could take over from Davies at left-back long-term

I would sell Sanchez. He is not very good but i think we still might get some money for him.

Or possibly stand up... not make the tackle because your team mate is doing the wrong you didn’t do and make your stats look good (like sissoko cleaning up the Aurier mess)

I reckon it's going to be worth keeping Sanchez for another season but with a better shield in front of him and organisation around him. If Verts does leave, I'd be looking to get a young'un in like Kim plus a Godin / Silva type experienced head + sell Foyth. That'd give us a lot of options, the key one for me is Dier regaining confidence in stepping in to Midfield to have that flexible shift between a back 3 / 4 depending on the situation but maybe that's just pining for some of Poch's finest football with us..

Apologies if he's been mentioned poopooed already on the thread but the Clyne situation is an odd one. Klopp used him a lot until the gameplan required a lot more attacking impetus from the full backs + injury problems. He played a total of 20 games last season and most were on loan for Bournemouth but I cba to research if he was any good, this year has been a bit of a write off but you'd hope he's been working fitness wise to regain that level of performance. Maybe a two year deal that would represent a risk from both parties but the right rewards in place...If we sold KWP it would make sense to get an English replacement.

I also have concerns about whether Sanchez will make it long-term, however we need to be realistic about the level of activity and churn of the squad this summer. We won't be signing many players and wont be selling players who we recently paid high prices for given that this summer their values will be depressed

The Premier League and English Football League summer transfer windows will be open for 10 weeks between 27 July and 5 October, subject to Fifa approval.

In addition, the Premier League and EFL say there will be a domestic-only window between 5-16 October.

"During this window, clubs will only be able to trade with EFL clubs (either loans or permanent registrations)," said a Premier League statement.

"No transfers can take place between Premier League clubs in this period."

Longer than I’d expected it to be. So we’re going to have almost a month in to the season before the transfer window closes.

I agree. He started well for us but hasn't progressed as much as I would've hoped. He's not bad but I doubt we'd miss him much if we signed a replacement.

Was lots of talk about A. Madrid wanting him. If you could get your money back you could get somrone else and probably have a little left over.

I do give players a chance but much like Foyth after 2 years you can tell he will never get to the level we need.

I like Foyth and think that there is a player there but he is not going to get the chances to develop under Mourinho, so it is in everyone's interest to sell him.
