Jose Mourinho - SACKED

Just read this. I think that is pretty fudging poor from Jose about Parrott.

“Now people can see that he has to work a lot so don’t think that Parrott is the second Harry Kane because he’s just a young kid that needs to work."

I didn't read it that way at all. I saw it as being more protective of Parrott to take some of the weight of expectation off of him.

Totally with you mate. Spurs have appointed Mourinho now let's back him and support him. If Mourinho can't turn this around with his record, then it will say a lot about ENiC's stewardship of the club on the field however brilliant they have been off it.
No it won't. It means it's a miss, like Hoddle, Santini, Sherwood etc. They also have hits, like Jol, Redknapp and Poch.

Like he did when he was commenting about Luke Shaw. The Portugeezer is not known for his man management skills, unless the man he is managing is himself, which he does all the time with every syllable he utters.

Actually he is, there's dozens of players that speak glowingly of Mourinho and how they loved playing under him. Luke Shaw took it to heart but actually changed his tune and signed a new contract under Mourinho for example.

Presumably and hopefully MouMou tries to explain nicely to Luke Shaw that is overweight and not playing in the right positions... nothing happens... explains it nicely again... no response... explains it behind closed doors with strong words... tries shouting at him... no response... then (and only then) he comes out in the press and lets the world know, that is the final attempt to make the player respond.

Remember, all of this is not about Parrott's football playing skills.

It is about (a) deflecting some of the hype, so he doesn't disappear up his own backside like Taarabt and Marcus Edwards
And (b) telling Parrott he should not be hanging out on speedboats with known drug dealer's'' son's

Sanchez is a very good defender. He is quick and strong. 2 attributes that are essential in a defender for teams that play a high line. Thought he and Dier did ok yesterday.

As for the contract rebels, when there are so many of them what else was Poch supposed to do with them?

He’s also a terrible on the ball. For any top team to have a CB with such a glaring weakness is an issue IMO.

As for the contract rebels, Eriksen was a tough one I accept. Whether he was under pressure from Levy to play him who knows but he was giving us virtually nothing for the last 6 months. I think he got the Toby situation wrong. He (Toby) said and did everything right, at least publicly anyway. I don’t think Poch should have frozen him out for so long during the 2017/18 season purely because of the contract situation. That’s between the player and the club. Just because a player wants more money doesn’t mean they aren’t committed to the club. But Poch took every contract holdout personally. Maybe it is something he will learn from and get better at with experience but from what I’ve seen so far he doesn’t seem to know how to deal with these kind of situations effectively.

I can believe it, I guess the point stands though, how many of those clubs are being run in a sustainable manner?

The conventional wisdom IIRC is that 55% wages to turnover ratio is considered good practice and sensible. Increasing ours to say 50% for example wouldn’t be irresponsible or unreasonable at all.

It is, but what is that based on?

The numbers always seem to be compared to other football clubs, there must be a reason Levy keeps it at 40%.

It has dropped while we've been doing the stadium project. Expenses have been kept low while revenue has grown (especially with each new tv deal). Summer 2013 we released Bentley and Gallas, sold Bale, Defoe and Parker and signed the magnificent seven. Most of our signings since then have been younger players on what will have been relatively lower wages. Some graphs going back to 2005.

The clubs growth has been greater than the growth in the wages we have needed to pay

The rule of thumb is pay what you can afford

just cost one team decides to pay 70% on wages, why would another use that ratio...

Sad to see ( imo) that there are some fans talking about yet another manager change ( not talking about those that did not want Jose here in the first place as they were always going to slag him off when the going got rough). He took over a team that according to some fans were heading for a relegation battle, a side that contained players who were either not fit or on the way down, he has lost our two most potent player ' (Son and Kane) as well as injurys that have mounted up among other players.

It was always going to be a rough ride and its turning out to be just that, changing managers ( again) will not bring form back to the over the hill players, nor get our two most potent players ( Son and Kane) fit any faster either. The rest of the season should be seen as getting as many of our recent signings up and ready for next season, giving players like Skipp/ Tanganga more games. IMO

We lost 20 games last season with the squad less damaged than this.

We are currently without:

Hugo - both back up keepers are clowns.
Kane
Sissoko
Son
Sess

Lamela is only ok for 25 minutes or so here and there

Moura/SB are shattered

Ndombele only sprints when he sees McDonalds
Davies just back

We also don’t have Llorente/Trippier/KWP/Rose/Wanyama/Christian that made minutes up last season - I’m not arguing they should not have been sold.

Take that number of key players out of any squad and they would be struggling.

For some reason this is completely ignored by the media and our own fans - this season was always going to be a write off after the start we had.

We need 2/3 windows to sort this mess out.

I can't dance with any of that, maybe the number of windows but we shall see. Football fans amaze me some times and i fail to understand how anyone thought it was going to be easy ( after Poch ) left to sort the mess we were in. As i said earlier Jose was not the choice of some fans and thankfully the most noise is coming from them rather then those who coud see it would take a while to sort us out.

Tim Sherwood.

Give the youth some playing time and lower our expectations so much that the appointment after him would be given the necessary time.

Poch would not have been a success without Sherwood.

Depends how Levy wants to run the club. I would like another Poch type signing, but we would have to go back to lower signings etc.

Ah. The old "punch yourself in the face with a lead glove so as the pain from your fractured leg is less noticeable" approach. Or do you have a stake in Gillet production in the south?!!!!

You're using a turnover figure that includes a lot of CL money.

That could disappear any time and shouldn't form a part of sustainable wage calculations.

Agree
So for us our planned TO should be around the £350m mark
And 50% wages would be £175m which is what I reckon we will come in around now
You then incentive the players with bonuses for CL and other things so as the TO goes up so does their reward and vice versa
It’s why pool had a big spike last seasopn as new season and rewards for the CL win
