I didn't see the match today. What happened to Aurier? Any mitigating circumstances or just a brain melt?

First yellow he scissor tackled the guy who was near the touchline and going backwards. Was no need for it and was a deserved yellow.

Second yellow him and Winks were too busy complaining about the ball being out, the Soton player got behind him with the ball and he pushed him and the Soton player took an easy dive. He gave the ref to book him and he did. There was acres of space in behind as well which is probably why the ref carded him.

Just when you think you can rely on him ( myself included ) he reminds you why he is not a starter. Because he is a Red Card or Pentaly waiting to happen in this league.

I honestly believe this game is massive. Win (and perhaps even draw) and we buy some time. Lose and I really do think Levy will be thinking long and hard.

This game was massive. And following howlers from Aurier and Lloris there is one reason, and one reason only, we won that game. The Pirate started the OMT and produced the necessary magic which Poch seems to have (temporarily I hope) forgotten how to do!

For those with good memories, you may remember the Pirate also started an OMT a few years ago when we were also in a rocky patch and I started an OMT for an away game at Bournemouth. After going a goal down we eventually ran out 5-1 winners and it kick started our season. Let's hope today's victory does the same.

Taking the absolute bankers then?

Bollox Aurier was a liability from start to finish.

We done well considering the circumstances. The second goal was classic pochettino Tottenham.

Feels good to get back on track in the league and I know other teams can say the same, but just annoying that we aren't sat in 2nd right now on at least 14pts.

Massive result for us today. Said before that we have 3 winnable games in a row which would take us to 17 points from 9 games, so probably top 4 position and suddenly the clouds would have cleared. Dropping points today, irrespective of the circumstances, would have led to a lot more speculation about the problems.

I'm hoping that when Dele gets match fit (I think he'll start v bayern) then perhaps we'll get back to 4-2-3-1 given that Kane, Eriksen, Son and Dele are all generally undroppable for Poch (and rightly so).

Would be good if Levy did his bit now to help gain some stability by getting Vertonghen and Alderweireld signed up to new deals

Yes, I think 14-16 points would be what we would have expected. Assume a defeat away at City, point at Arsenal and perhaps only a point a Leicester would be 14-16 now, rather than 11. Really therefore its just the Saudi Sportswashing Machine result which has hit us, though obviously performances have been up and down

Sounded on the radio like the crowd were well up for it - when the atmosphere is good at the Lane (old or new) it is fxxckin brilliant

Great result. Great show of spirit. Not a great performance though, and not one I'm looking at and seeing progress with (even with 11)

The thing is people have to lower their expectations when we pick that system. It effectively reduces us to an everton, leicester, west ham level team.

Will be interesting playing Bayern on tuesday. Will they be coming to london to play us (4231) or coming to london to play west ham (41212).

Yeah. I just watched it. Very harsh decision.

This. I don't really blame Aurier for that - it was a dive, and the ref just wanted to send Aurier off there.

I do blame him for getting booked for that stupid tackle a minute earlier, but then, that's Aurier - he has one stupid decision in him per game.

But he's *still* better than Sanchez at right-back. GHod, I hope that doesn't come back for the Brighton game.

Atmosphere was brick first half. Saints fans were singing ‘1-0, and you still don’t sing...’ and ‘is this the Emirates?’ Pretty embarrassing to be honest.

Second half was better.

An error-strewn performance, with Sissoko's pass to Lamela standing 5 yards offside when we were deep in stoppage time and trying to keep possession summing up the levels of brain-dead on display, but 3 points is 3 points.
