Wanyama is done, its a massive mistake to play him against a team of young mobile players, i said it before the game and it played out that game.
He may look ok on TV as when he is on the screen he may win the ball, however if you cant see him on your screen its because he's 20yrs behind play, he literally cant run.

We needed Legs in Midifield, but Poch is working with what he has, not with what he would like.

Weirdly im more confident after the game than before, seemed we were a bit too respectful of them. and it looked like we have the ability to take control of the game.
They could still blow us away second half, but if the 2nd leg is like the 2nd half, and we have son instead of Llorente i think we go through

Completely agree. Wanyama was awful. They swarmed him but he got pick pocketed numerous times and just looked like a old guy who'd had his pension nicked by a bunch of kids. He improved slightly when Sissoko came on but he was well off the pace.

You're also correct in that we showed them far too much respect and stood too far off them for 30 mins. These boys are good but they aren't great.

We can still do this.

Well, what a weird messy game that was. I thought we did amazingly well to escape with 0-1, given the way they outplayed us for 25 mins and the chances of Van de Beek in the first half and Neres in the second. But I also think they were rattled by our performance in the second half (although that performance was far from good). I don't think Trippier had an awful game (certainly not a good one), and I think he should play in Amsterdam in order to have somebody who can (in theory) cross the ball. Setpieces may well be crucial in this (so far) low-scoring contest. Even with Son back, I think our aerial power may be important in the return. I believe we still have a 30-35% chance of being in the CL final.

I can only think that Perez is picking the team at the moment, as i dont see why you would think having 1 midfielder against a load of 20yr olds with a week off would work.
I would have started Sissoko and Dier, and not started Llorente as it left us with no options, however we are so lacking in fit players its almost impossible to criticise Poch as it seems he is trying to nurse a squad into the CL final which is crazy

Tbh you’re right. There’s definitely 1 in Scara. But there’s a Scara lieutenant that goes by the name of nayim who’s not as extreme but still wants him gone from Spurs.
Don't worry, you'll all catch up eventually.

If possible I would prefer to play second leg with Dele on the bench. I no longer rate Alli. I remember when he was new at Spurs and compare him to now. Something happens to certain young players. We give Dele too much credit. At least Pochettino has stopped calling him the best young player.

It's called form. He is off form at the moment but will find it again soon enough.

I agree Pochs hands were tied somewhat with injuries but I still think he didn’t help himself and got some key things wrong. For example shouldn’t of played three at the back, don’t get why he keeps reverting to this. Dele is not and never will be a CM, he’s not that type of player. With how immobile Llorente is(who actually had an ok game) we need Dele running in behind the defence, it’s too easy for them knowing Llorente isn’t ever going to get in behind. But we are only 1-0 down at half time and we are well in this, they can be got at.....

I think we still have a chance too, but, I can’t help but think Ajax have another couple of levels from what we saw last night.

Still think 3 at the back could've worked but only if the 2 wing backs had pushed further up to make a midfield 5. Midfield was where we really struggled as we were continually outnumbered, especially with tugboat Vic moored. Direct balls to Llorente were ok but we didn't have enough players supporting to make it work, Dele and Moura should've been in and around him all the time with Eriksen dictating play in the middle alongside Vic and Sissoko.

I too am optimistic we can turn it around in the 2nd leg, will be tough but we can get a couple of goals over there.

I agree, no out all from defence just saw us getting dragged deeper and inviting pressure. The good news is that Poch changed things and stopped it.

Agree. With a bit more quality delivery and heading ability we could have scored a couple of goals without playing particularly well, a few more digs at goal would be useful too as the goalie looks erratic to me.

That was our best defeat since young boys away.

I believe Ajax have the dutch cup final on Sunday, evening kick off too.

If the rumours turn out to be true and Kane joins Son in the team next week, then anything is possible.

I watched the press conference and Moura didn't say anything like what is being reported. He said (lots of paraphrasing here) it will be good to have Son back for the second leg and that it would be good to have Kane back soon as well. That was then jumped on when Poch's press conference started as Moura having said that Kane would be back for next week.
Kane won't be back next week.
