The glorious march to CL qualification

Let’s see him do it regularly first

I like lacazette and he was consistent in France but needs 2 seasons at this level IMO to be up there

Lacasette is the scorer of spectacular goal but he just has never been or will be a goal machine like Harry.
He is 2nd rate. Aguero and Salah are different in every way!
Lacasette can score some belters but doesn’t do many tap ins!

Imo

West Ham doing their utmost to allow Chelsea to go above us. Absolutely pitiful...Anderson has been studying Ozil with a completely anonymous performance so far. No doubt they're going to save all their energy for their cup final on the 27th.

We all work on the premise that failing to qualify for the champions league costs you of your best players....I think its a bit of a red herring it doesn't seem to affect the other clubs very much.

Woolwich: lost Henry, Vieira, V Persie, Fabregas between 2005-2013 despite being in the CL each season. Since they failed to qualify in 2017 they have managed to sign Lacazette and Aubameyang and offer Ozil a £350k p/w contract.

Man U: failed to qualify for 2014-15 season yet managed to sign di maria and retained de Gea despite interest from Real Madrid. Failed to qualify for 2016-17 yet signed Pogba (world record fee) and Zlatan.

Liverpool: sold Coutinho despite being in CL in 2018.

Chelsea: retained Hazard despite failing to qualify in 2016 and 2018.

I think club's pulling/buying power supersedes whether they are in the CL or not. Perhaps we're a bit less immune?

I’ve always thought it was nonsense. The key is to pay the wages - if you’re able to do that, players will stay. Similar I think we’d be equally likely to lose someone like Eriksen is Barca made a strong move to have him in their first 11 (even ignoring contract situation) whether or not we made the CL.

yep agreed - we lost Walker despite remaining in CL and I'm 100% convinced Bale and Modric would have gone to Madrid regardless of whether we'd got into CL or not.

Harry always claimed that we were set to sign Hazard in 2012 if we'd been in it but instead he went to Chelsea. We'll never know.

Iwobi is awful and pretty much universally hated by their game going fan base.

He' a trier, thats about it so far. Gooner mates of mine appreciate the effort but dont appreciate the performance!

Very poor decision making, clumsy and yet to really find his position.

Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea all have the historical precedent of regular CL appearances and paying a brick tonne in wages.

This is what protects them somewhat against being out of the CL. The anticipation is that its an anomoly and theyll be back in the following season, and either way theyll over pay you.

Neither of these things apply to Spurs.

Spurs getting into the CL is indeed a game changer, and sustained CL appearances (at least, until we can be seen as the same regulars as the above) is essential to building our squad and team at this point.

Being in doesnt protect you from bigger fish poaching your talent (well, a little, but not enough) but it does allow you to build a wide and deep squad and to attract the major talent that would otherwise go elsewhere (to a CL club).

Not that it means much, but Id say we have the easiest run of all of them. Game in hand on Chelsea and Utd too which is nice.

We should really be confident of top 4. And, bonus, 4th goes straight into the CL group with no qualifying these days.

Arsenal could be in trouble.
Watford A - Tough game
Palace - Play their best football away (even won at City)
Wolves - Very good team who could pull Arsenal apart
Leicester - Much improved and a pretty even match
Brighton - Would expect an Arsenal win comfortably
Burnley - Arsenal travel badly, Burnley are strong at home and their comabtive style is basically kryptonite to Arsenal.

While i dont expect it to be the result come the end of the season, I can honestly say theres only one win on the table right there for them looking at it.

Of course theres every chance theyll beat Palace or Wolves or Watford etc, Brighton is the only "banker" I see for them.

They are one point behind us in 5th, but Utd are only two points behind them...

I think there is the nightmare scenario that we end up 4th and Utd win the UCL and Arsenal the Europa, then 4th place doesn't qualify... need 3rd to be 100% sure
