Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

You say he dissed the cups but in reality he seems to get to a semi final every season.

But if his chairman is not going to provide him with the big bucks to buy top quality players then I question whether or not Poch is at fault.

Besides I can understand while Poch would find qualifying for the CL important, because if we do not we may very well lose key players the way we lost Berbatov and Keane after winning the League Cup and not making the CL

Exactly people just want to put the boot in, poch was correct when he said the fans need to stop thinking everything is about to fall apart a few months ago.
He also said he would leave when he didnt have the backing of the fans, can see if its edgy against watford a few boos, and those people will create the scenario they predict

When we wernt in the CL - Well our players are going to leave without CL football
Get CL football - Well the players are going to leave if we dont pay the wages
Kane and Dele sign new contracts - Well the players are going to leave if we dont buy more players
Buy more players - It will be, the players have to leave to win things
Win a cup - Well the players dont care about the cup they want the league
Win the League - Well Leicester won the league we need to prove it in europe
Win the CL - World ends

And while some on here would prefer a cup win to cl, it’s clear that the club feel the opposite. And given what levy and Poch have done in developing us into a regular top 3 and cl team, I trust in them.

Yup 100%
People want everything now... Thats not possible... Its happened once in football Emirates Marketing Project.... If thats what you want then great, i dont, but i get you do.

Like you rightly pointed out to me once mate, people just want to vent. Today was really disappointing. Hopefully tomorrow fans will have more perspective.

Tbf being a fan means wanting your side to win and being unhappy when they don't. That is irrespective of whether you have the resources of City or Accrington Stanley. Sadly perspective rarely comes into it.

My feelings today are that yes you can say we have our best players out. And yes we have a lot of games coming up and players are getting tired. I can understand the financial point of staying in the Top 4 and if Levy has made that the most important thing over winning Cup games then I Can get that to from Poch's point of view.

But being down to the bare bones and then resting two key Creative players ( maybe rest one for this game, one the next ) just totally angered me. On Wednesday Son will be back and we can Rest the Donkey Fernando but today we need some extra quality up front and we rested two players who could bring that. For me that sent the wrong signal to the whole team. We came out passive and lacking cohesion. And dont Tell Me Rose could not have handled playing two games before KWP took over next weekend. He has only been playing one game a week for a while now.

What happened to players manning up and pushing through the tough times. His half time talk obviously had an effect. We came out and dominated the game but just had a real lack of quality all around the box. It was painful to watch when you know you have one player away on International duty for like the third time this season and another resting at home with his feet up.

On this occasion its both Levy and Poch's fault in my mind. I rate them both and they are a great combination. But today has angered me in a very big way. The FA Cup is only 6 games, and a lot of rounds you can rest a lot of players depending on your draw. So I personally do not get the Cups or top 4 speak. And to be honest I am tired of us dragging our way through cup competitions. I know the FA Cup does not bring the money the Champions league does. But Money does not go down in history as an achievement.

Totally understand. And what better place to vent about tottenham than the best tottenham forum in history? My Gooner mates sent me a 'spurs fans are in need of help' vid. And for me, this defeat and the Cheat$ki one annoy me waaaay less than the Wolves one.

I believe winning breeds more winning.
A cup would be very useful right now.
But the early cup rounds and times of Injury are when you expect your squad players to step up.
That hasn't happened.

It's easy to forget there was a season or two when Son was a squad player and the jury was out. But whenever he was called upon, he put it in. And develops himself to be where he is now.

Yes it, money does go down as an achievement, a vital one.
It helps achieve long term progress like building stadiums and increasing the overall growth of Spurs?

Fudging ManUre fans giving me the most grief this evening, saying how glad they are that ManU didn’t hire bottle job Pochettino

I much preferred when they were all moaning about Mourinho!

MAYBE this is all part of Poch's cunning plan. Make Manure NOT want him so he can stay here and admire the aura's he has grown and shaped.

I understand your anger but I don’t necessarily agree with you. Eriksen has played an awful lot of games lately. We’re in danger of burning him out. Lamela is a fella who doesn’t seem to be able to handle two full games a week because of his injury history.

Rose took a couple of heavy knocks at Chelsea. I’d have thought he should have played today if fit but I can only imagine that he’d have been a risk given the blows he took on Thursday.

I feared the worst when I saw the team sheet. It wasn’t a strong side but I don’t blame Poch even slightly for it. He’s had a ridiculous amount of injuries to deal with this season, he’s been fighting on four fronts and hasn’t been able to strengthen the squad. Something had to give and that’s what we saw today.

And I don’t think Top 4 is just Levys doing. I think Poch believes that’s the best way too. Medium to long term, if we want to contend to win the Premier League and Champions League, we need to stay at the top table which means we need to finish top 4. The FA and League Cups will do little to help us on our way.

Imagine what Poch will say if our injury situation plus lack of CM bite means we miss out on top 4? If we want to be a top team we need to stop the excuses...losing to Chelsea on penalties was one thing, but Palace? We were simply brick and no excuses for how injuries now mean we've lost 2 out of 3 since then whilst scraping past a brick Fulham team.

In his book he says in his first season, they decided after a bad run they just had to go for it and do it their own way. Dropping the big names who were causing a bad atmosphere and trusting the young players.

Now I think it is time he trusts some of the young players again. He needs to go back to his roots.

Best manager we have had in my time supporting spurs doing what he is doing in such difficult circumstances. He has my backing for life I love the dude. He is right not to get involved in all the flimflam that comes out of the sky sports machine. The amount of fans of other clubs that come up to me and ask me when spurs will win stuff. I just ask them when their wifes are home alone so they can be fcuked by a real man, usually shuts them up.

I think some of that well is a little bare, re young players; i mean which young player do we have in our ranks atm should be playing more and who for in your opinion?

Plus our situation now is so much different to then, especially re bad apples, and if there are any, then they have grown under Poch's time rather than him inheriting them

To his credit Poch has always said no transfers, injuries, fatigue, difficult scheduling, bad refereeing and ground delays are not excuses, whereas I actually think they are considerations that mean us sitting in third and still in the CL whilst narrowly missing out on a cup final mean we are overachieving even more than the other seasons when we came in the top 3. The team he put out today was capable of winning the game, we missed two chances you'd expect any professional player to score and made 2 defensive errors, one of them by our record signing.

After today we will have Son back, hopefully in a months time Alli and Kane too, along with Dier to give us a third CM option. If we don't win matches against the likes of Palace when those players are all available I'd be surprised.

We do need to upgrade on a couple of players in the summer though, bad luck or not we need a viable 3rd alternative after Kane and Son, ideally one who can play AMF too so they can contribute in games where Kane is playing to keep them sharp or give us another option from the bench and another centre mid if Victor doesn't return to his previous levels.

It's not top 4, it's the money top 4 brings .. that is necessary or at least extremely helpful considering our expenses and peers.

As you say, so easy to play Eriksen and Rose, can you imagine if we played Eriksen and he took a knock and was out for two weeks at this point? then everyone would have been, why didn't we play the kids ...

This was always going to be a tough season, and so it's turned out ..

The sense of entitlement that is creeping into our fanbase is even more depressing ...
