Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

No he didn’t and that result counts but let’s not conveniently forget all the semi finals we’ve lost and our performances on the whole in the CL have not been good bar a handful of great results. The only semi final we have won was against league 1 opposition and even then we just about scraped through after two worldies from Eriksen. It’s the one area Poch needs to improve on if he is to be considered one of the best managers around.

Don’t disagree
But with days like today a lot comes down to timing ..,, playing arsenal away is never easy and less so off the back of two huge tough games

Cheap shots mate to bring those up today. I really wonder which manager fans think we could bring in that would guarantee to make us winners.

I don’t want a new coaching team, I just want this one to be a bit better, we have never been in a better position, if everyone could just do their job every week we’d win every game.

It’s as true today as it has been for a couple of years, the only thing that can beat us is ourselves.

We need to stop making mistakes, top to bottom.

Not really a cheap shot. I believe we play well when not under pressure. However, when we have a chance to go top of the league or win a semi final more often than not we crumble. Not sure how that can be argued against really. Maybe pinning that on Poch is unfair but whether it’s him or the players and the manager collectively we don’t do well when people start to expect things of us. We seem to perform far better when we are flying under the radar so to speak. We can write off all these big games as random one off losses but I don’t think it’s a coincidence when we don’t concede more than 3 in a game all season then concede 4 in a semi against Chelsea for example.

Look at the semi against United last season, they were there for the taking and we completely bottled it.

I like Poch but I would like to see him tweak things a bit. Foyth needed to go on loan from Jan last year or certainly this season. Llorente and Janssen are a waste of squad place and wages. Use the kids as filler and go for a top quality replacement to push Kane on and or give him a rest.

Don't know how or where but find our Roy Keane we need that more then anything.

Coach players how to deal with pressure, don't know how you do that but the dude is paid 6 million a year so he can figure it out.

Chelsea 2-2 bottled.
West Ham way twice - bottled
Man utd semi - bottled
City - bottled

Whenever we need to win games we bottle. It. Yeh we go on decent runs but let's face it any big game in our history we completely fudge it up. Biggest bottlers in premiership history and that's not exaggerating. Lasagnegate. Bottled.

We will never shake it off so.i guess the only thing to do is try and accept that we will always be brick.

I put my son in his spurs kit today for the first time but he fell asleep for the game. Lucky him.

I'm burning the kit and actually letting him decide whether to follow football and going to let him choose whoever he wants to support. Not fair forcing him to support this brick club.

Aren’t you one of those posters who want Poch to give youth a chance? Surprised you don’t want to give a promising youngdefender a chance to develop in our team.

To finish 2nd and 3rd does not show we can play under pressure?

Not when he looks like a YTS kid. He needs a loan playing proper football. I have said the same about W-P needing a loan. But that lad has already stunted his career by sitting around.

The is a player in Foryth but he makes a stupid amount of mistakes which are costing us. Let him do them on loan at Leeds.

To an extent yes but ultimately we ended up trophyless in all 3 seasons. Whenever we had the chance to catch Leicester we blew it, 2-1 up at home to an Arsenal side low on confidence and against 10 men and we couldn’t finish the job.

Back to back semi final defeats in the FA cup in which both games we were convincingly beaten and the above doesn’t point to a team that plays well under pressure to me.

Would you say Arsenal were a team who played well under pressure during Wenger’s final few seasons despite finishing in the top 4 more often than not.

Why bring it up today? Us losing had nothing to do with pressure. The team were tired after playing 2 big games which we won, including one on Weds against an in form inter Milan. Much more riding on weds than today ‘s game, that was a crunch game - which we won.. We just came up against a team today who were unfortunately more on it than we were. That’s why your post was a cheap shot. I despair of the kind of posts that come out after a loss.

Exactly right. Today was no more a pressure game than Chelsea or Inter. It was a tough game away to a top 4 rival who are unbeaten in 18 games stretching to August. I’m as sick as anyone but this wasn’t us “bottling anything”. Just a bad result and tired performance.

With the greatest respect I think a little perspective is needed re: Foyth. He has made mistakes sure, but at other times looked our best defender. Calm and assured a natural defender playing a high risk system. Alderweireld has not pulled up trees this year, I lost count of the number of headers he has missed from corners and set pieces. Sanchez when he wasn’t injured looked a shadow of the player from last season. Verts was terrible today. As a centre back he’s been better than Dier. I like Dier but he made a big mistake for Toreiros goal but we focus on Foyth? I think his place is here developing under Poch.

Because we don’t perform well for the most part when push comes to shove and that has to improve. There must be a reason why certain managers and teams win the majority of big games and we don’t. Can’t just put it all down to luck or one off’s or resources. We used to under perform against the lesser sides when HR and AVB were here but Poch has fixed that, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we typically batter the teams below say 7th place and I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that we lose a lot of crunch games.
