So, your final thoughts 2011-2012 season?

low point is theads like this!

hey everyone, lets reduce 9 months of our lives into 2 tiny little moments! yay!*

*disclaimer - im very grumpy lately

I still maintain that it wasn't Defoe's miss but Bale's poor pass, and it annoys me when people refer to it like it was a Torres-esque clanger in front of goal. While most others bumbled about scratching their arse that game, Defoe was relentless and hussled and harried their defense pressuring them in to mistakes that got us back in to the game. Bale did fudge all about from an admittedly great strike but somehow it's Defoe's fault we lost that one. Don't even get me started on King's challenge. GHod forbid we have to criticise someone other than Defoe though

Apologies. Please do take us through your emotions and thoughts after every game we've played.

Redknapp is a decent manager , but he certainly is not the the guy to take us to the next level , what is his vision for the future of the team/club etc , i think its probably almost non exsistant .

we need someone like martinez etc who has modern/fresh ideas , it looks like liverpool are already in the running for him ...

as much as i dont like to see it , theres no doubt that players & managers that constantly moan at refs ( i'm thinking cheat$ki , man u , arse etc ) get more decisions going their way , probably as it human nature to not want to feel that constant pressure !

we should complain more !

also i dont think harry sticks up for his players as much as some other manangers .

I put down a factual statement....the difference between a 'blip' and a 'collapse', and get told to support another team??

An entirely proportionate response to an outrageous suggestion. You would do the same.

nope
I wouldn't talk tosh in the first place

you massaged events to suit your theory, you have done nothing to prove or disprove why the slump in form occurred, save that of your favourite hobbyhorse.

The fact is that you have no facts that support your theory at all, just opinions - and not even particularly original ones.

Whilst at all times ignoring the blindingly obvious, we are 4th (top 5 for the last 3 seasons) and that the season is decided after 38 games, not when you feel like it. The season is in one part, not segmented into areas to suit your half baked notions.

have only just seen this sheff

so when evaluating someone , you focus on the negative and ignore the positive? or do you take everything into account?

A manager is paid to do a job. That usually involves targets. We do not know precisely what targets Redknapp were set by Levy. But I would be astonished if Levy expected any less than CL qualification, with the squad and wage bill he has now. Jol certainly was expected to qualify for the CL by Levy, 5+ years ago, and Jol had his ass chewed off when he suggested otherwise, to the press. Redknapp has a much better and costlier squad now, with a much higher wage bill. Modric's improved pay deal, for starters. With increased costs/quality of staff, expectations go up. Same anywhere.

If it is going accordingly, then people will be happy. The managers role is to nurture that along, as I have already put. So what is the point of spending much time on dissecting it when things are going OK, to a level that they should be achieving, anyway, with the resources they have available. I would argue a hugely well-paid manager should be achieving this.

If a couple of games go against you, thats a blip, and you have to manage it as a manager. This does happen to 'the best', even SAF. Wigan? Blackburn? SAF managed theirs and they very narrowly missed out on the title in the end. When things suddendly go tits up, bigtime, and last 9 games, and results go through the floor, that is a season-wrecking issue. A collapse. The manager has to correct that too. Its his job. In our case, was the manager the issue in the first place, and it points to that massively, IMHO. THAT IS WHY this needs dissecting, rather than that, where he was only doing what he is paid to do.

Half-time at the Emirates was awful... as you just KNEW what was coming... didn't even have the luxury of BEING 2-0 up by then, to hear the half-time boos...

The Emirates Marketing Project game was awful for THAT moment, but I'd say seeing Madio Ballotelli step up to take the penalty with bits of Parker's scalp still probably stuck to his boot rankled most with me!

...oh, almost forgot the highs!

Being at the re-arranged Cup tie with Bolton, whilst not a 'high' in the footballing sense, made me proud of my club, and every other fan that was there that night!

...oh, and Top 4 is none too shabby... DOOM-MONGERS!

Did you go to the Norwich game?

All you're doing is the exact same thing other teams fans are doing right now on other forums, the difference is there list includes games they should have won against US. (hello fulham at the cottage 8-[)

I saw the Norwich game. A shocker performance.

I don't care what other teams fans are saying. How many have our squad and wage bill? This is THFC. Not Norwich.

you're absolutely right.

but i have to say though that from actually watvching the collapse.....it really did seem like a form, confidence thing as opposed to active mutiny

Yes, the form and confidence side may be so, but what triggered the collapse in it, in the first place????

Your opinion. Not mine.

No I have not. The stats speak for themself.

The fact is that you have no facts that support your theory at all, just opinions - and not even particularly original ones.

I refer myself to my previous statement.

The season is 38 league games. The latter part was a disaster. A fact. Not opinion. We should have walked 3rd.

Hmmmmm,....i see what you say....but from the way i read it your criteria is set up to make redknapp look bad cause i have no doubt that you wont set these up for a manager you actually like or rate.....

yeah when you get set a target with outcomes that are in YOUR control the sure...you are just doing what you are supposed to do. when the variables are as BIG and wide and also literally attack your targets (other teams, their spending, thier style of play, their confidence, their managers, their fans, their form , their players etc etc) then what your paid to do is the best you can with whatever resources you have. natural your resources and you manager combined provide a rough indicator as to what is going to happen but you cannot guarantee anything. its not like everyone esle is going to consipire to help you reach your targets. everything is against you...so when things are going well he isnt just "doing his job". if that were the case then there would be no achievement in ferguson or mancini winning the league his year

another thing is that i dont believe that levy 'expected jol to make the CL' he set the CL or even top 4 as a TARGET. it wasnt a mission statement of current to future status or something taken for granted. it never was . CL was always a goal for levy..being in top 4 was a goal for levy. for levy to expect that team to get top 4 when at the time you had pool, chelsea, arsenal and united flying high? now i think you yourself would be naive to think that.

you are right though, things do change...a better investment in players.....better staff.....and you know what ... a better manager. and now we have elevated ourselves to the point where you think that 4th is not an acheivement

cause dont forget the following players were not playing well before redknapp came

modric
lennon
bale
kaboul
thudd

etc etc....redknapp brought these players to a higher performance level. before him people questioned the fudge out of modric and bale...people said lennon was found out, kaboul was a BIG error prone guy etc etc. the players we brought in by an large under harry have been good. yes a few havent worked out but more have than have not

its amazing to think that when we are going 10 wins ans 1 draw in 11 games, that this to you is "expected" and just "doing your job". i'll remember that from you when anyone does anything positive for a sustained period seeeing as they themselves are just doing what they are paid for

if only a couple of games go against you in a season then you are one of the best 3 teams in premiership and quite possibly the world. cause just a blip being accepted is from the view that your team should not be having those at all but it will happen once in a while. in truth everyone has a blip and MORE....except for those that regularly challenge for the title.

and not to mention...the collapse? we came out of that. were sixth at one point and we just missed out on 3rd come end of the season...because fulop is paid off

this. I said before Bale left it too late to pass and ballsed it but got shot down by people at work who said it was a "world class pass".
