OMT: Mighty Spurs vs Emirates Marketing Project

We have no chance tonight. I can see us playing like we did against Liverpool. Scared to take the game to them. Liverpool should have won by more than 6. City will be much more clinical.

Its football tho, you just never know which is the only thing giving me a little hope.

I don't think we stand much of a chance tonight unless every single player performs at their absolute best, and that the team engine gets going. We simply need a top, top performance from everyone tonight, throughout the 90+ minutes, if we're to get anything from this. At our very best we can certainly match City, but we haven't really showed that side yet this season. It's funny though, in two of our last three season it's been a home match against City, under similar circumstances (where we've been massive underdogs, after 8-10 matches in the league) that has really kicked our season off (4-1 with Kane finally scoring and the 2-0 with Alli and Son where we absolutely bossed them and could've smashed them completely). Let's hope for a repeat tonight!

Looking forward to the meltdown after the game, hope it's as funny as the pre match doom and gloom. I only know that what ever the result the World will keep spinning and I'll still hope for the best without wishing to find a scape goat or vilify any one at the club, but then I do have a life.

Don't fancy our chances and it could get a bit scary at times, but you live in hope and my team would be

Hugo
Davies Toby Sanchez Trippier
Dier
Winks
Lamela Erikson moura
Harry

The Guardian article comes from a separate briefing to "print" journalists (I think). The press conference above is for broadcast media and having listened to it, Poch doesn't mention anything similar about this unhappiness that is referenced in the Guardian and other newspaper articles.
In the broadcast press conference, he comes across in pretty good form, considering the repetitive questions he has to answer.

Shush! You talk too much sense! :p ;) Do you think there'll be a meltdown if we lose though? I reckon most people expect us to lose. But then again, complainers are gonna complain.

Have had a weird feeling since the game was announced day after the NFL game that we were going to win this.
My Brain and everything about it says we lose and quite heavily, however i just have a suspicion that we are going to win, a big deal will be made about the pitch and how its distorting the competition.

Would like to see us start the game with a pragmatic approach to keep it tight, stay in the game.

They're better than us with the ball, our game has to many unforced errors.

I know this won't go down well here but I think Poch should drop Eriksen to the bench and start with Sissoko.

Start the game in a 4-4-1-1 formation and have the front two, Lamela and Kane interchanging dropping back to make a five in midfield when we've not got the ball...We need tackles, interceptions and players that can swiftly counter-attack.

If all goes according to plan, then three of Dembele, Eriksen, Sonny and Dele can be our subs that help get us over the line ...

Poch and the boys can do this.COYS!!!

Agree on Sissoko, think only think we have on them is Physical presence, however i think when we get the ball we need to look after it very carefully, and sissoko isnt capable of that, and if we are going for pace, son is a better option.

Lamela isnt at Eriksens level, and i dont trust Moura to look after the ball, also looks like Dele has been kept back for this game, bench starting to look better though

Lamela
Trippier
Wanyama
Moura
Sissoko
Son

Big ask tonight, City are odds on to win!

If we can’t pull off an upset would be good to see us at least put up a fight in that we don’t gift them any goals and an upturn in form for whoever is playing centre mid and maybe the likes of Son and Eriksen to ask questions of what I still think is an average defence.

I agree with many about the pros and cons of playing Sissoko tonight. Pros: physicality and pace.
Cons: poor ball control, especially under pressure such as City's typical pressing game.

I think he will be good to play on the wing, where he can get up and down the line and double-up on their wide attacker (Sane?). He was very effective in this way two seasons ago and he'd also give us an outlet on said wing and perhaps push Mendy back a bit. I think taht role would keep things simple for him, use his pace out wide and also not have him getting involved in the likely complicated play in central midfield.

One thing City's defenders wont like having to face is pace

Agree on the pragmatic approach, disagree on playing Sissoko.

I think we should get bodies in midfield and hopefully interrupt their passing and be able to cover if/when the fullbacks push up. I went w/ Sonny's pace to run behind their fullbacks over Lamela, but Lamela's pressing could help as well.

I think either Alli or Lamela drifting off the left in and around a mobile Kane could give the City defence trouble. Add Moura and Eriksen continuing to step up and we can ask big questions; giving Lamela or Alli license to roam from wide (especially with Kane dropping off) could be a great tactic IMO...

We have more than enough to hurt city and their defence isn’t their strongest point but they have limited the amount of shots against them so well this season

Anything out of this game would be a massive positive as they are the best team in the league and it’s what a billion £££ can get you
