Wonder whether this will wake us up. Would much rather spend £50m on him than that on Zaha. He's 4 years' young so more potential to improve, and is probably better as it is

21 years old creative player who did well in a struggling team last year - £40m - £50m if a fair price for the buyer

nah - been here one season and didn't do much of note after the first couple of months. crazy fee, even in this market.

Everton went mad last summer and don't seem to have learned their lessons

Is it a crazy fee? Mane was £34m two years ago and Southampton aren't much different to Watford. Add on some inflation, and prices have gone nuts, and its comparable

Mane was much better for Southampton than Richarlson has been for Watford, a 1 in 3 wide forward over 75 games - Richarlson is 1 in 8 and a couple of assists...

I know everyone is getting stressed about no signings and definitely need something extra, but we also need to remember we have two "new signing" in
Winks - young, ball playing CM
Lamela - creative maverick with good attitude and workrate

Rose and Toby, if they both stay and apply themselves, are like new signings.
None of the above played all that much last season.

Could add Moura to that too.

We really only need a couple of tweaks/improvements.

I think 50 mil for Richarlison should put things in perspective. He's certainly a fairly promising player, but he's achieved very little in the game at this point, basically having a really good 3-month period in the Prem. Prem experience is reallly expensive, and moves like this make me appreciate how we're doing our business more than ever.

I think you're right, but watch us drop a point or two in our first few matches, and the pitchforks will be out singling out players with the odd poor performance. It seems like such a football fan/twitter geek/pundit/"expert" thing to do, write players completely off after a couple of bad performances. Signing someone, however bad they are, and however stupid it sounds, somehow takes the pressure off the players already at the club, as long as the players we sign are somewhat of a media darling, or someone a lot of people imagine would be good (regardless of track record), so if nothing else, get a couple of darlings in just to take the pressure off. :p you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't though.

Breaking down the activity:

Firstly need the 'replacement' signings - so people to come in to replace Toby, Dembele and Rose if he goes too (2 or 3 out, 2 or 3 in - I expect Rose will stay, but 4-6 transfers)

And shedding the deadwood (Llorente, Janssen, GKN, Sissoko etc) (all won't go - perhaps 2-4 deals?)

And then any additions beyond replacing what we have (only 1 or 2 max)

So 20 days to go, and theoretically 7-12 deals, but lets say 6-8 transfers likely (excl youth loans etc)? Going to be a very busy spell!!!!

I see that Mourinho is expecting Toby to join them this summer although they have pulled the plug on Martial leaving. I'd make it very clear that we can keep Toby for another year and sell for £25 million next summer, at the same time as Martial become available on a free.

After the recent signings of Aurier and Sissoko and Janssen I would rather Poch just brought through youngsters and did not sign anyone.
