January transfer rumour thread

I think resigning Defoe, then Keane, were panic buys. Crouch has tided us over till Adebayor came.

Of course it was, we were seriously at risk of going down and short of goals. But if Defoe hadn't got injured shortly after rejoining us, we never would have taken Keane back.

That shows management dropped the ball because we should have sold Pav and bought a striker last summer

If we'd got an offer close to our valuation, we would have sold Pav in the summer. I'm sure Redknapp would have rather have sold Pav than Crouch in the summer. It'll be an unpopular view on here but I think that we could've done with Crouch last Sunday.

I would be amazed, frankly, if he ended up at West Ham. Clubs all over europer would be willing to take him on loan - and pay all (or a huge chunk of) his wages - West Ham shouldnt stand a chance

Nothing about Tevez makes sense though. I don't see how anyone could offer him more money than he gets at City. And there's the constant BSing about wanting to go back to Argentina. Just fudging go already.

So would I, but it appears to have substance. We shall see - He's always said he'd like to go back to West Ham at some point for a short period.....

ITK update 51:

ari gold on SO

There is a lot going on behind the scenes. We are actively trying to sell four very obvious players.

Gio, Pav, Bassong, Gomes. The latter two because THEY want to go

If we can get this to 100 pages before the end of the window, do you think we have a change of getting Raziak in ?

That's probably 150k in wages and 18m in transfer fees right there.

That's Carlos Tevez coming in then.

If those four leave, I do hope we have 2 signings lined up, even if only loan deals. Leaving just Ade,Defoe and VDV upfront would be a gamble.
We could possibly get away without a Bassong replacement but Gallas and King's injuries seem to be getting more frequent and Dawson seems to have lost a lot of confidence.

Although there is a bloke out there who could cover both options....and he wants out, but do we want in

Don't think Gary Doherty's the answer, really.

Watching the Brighton defeat of Saudi Sportswashing Machine noticed that Clive Allen was in the stands scouting.

Wonder who he was looking at, I'd imagine it was a striker. Mackail-Smith on the radar (would be surprised)

Buckley looked a decent winger, able to take players on and go pass them.

Then again maybe scouting for future fixture against the Toon.

Scouting players? Really?

Or a saturday night in Brighton? ;)

I dont know but i hope Harry hasnt decided to get Best or Ameobi on the cheap ;)

We like some Brighton CB, young kid, can't remember his name. Wasn't really paying much attention to the game so not sure if he played.

The Metro has us very loosely linked with a forth coming bid for Mandzukic. Don't know much about him myself, any good?
Sorry don't know how to do links on my phone.

In essence Harry is lumped with a player he does not rate. Nobody else except us is silly enough to pay silly money for such an average striker player hence no one else is willing to pay the money we have been asking. Sometimes you have to cut your losses to move forward
