New England manager = Roy Hodgson

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...t-Harry-Redknapp-was-Englands-top-choice.html

Germany enforcer Bastian Schweinsteiger, his Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes and international skipper Philipp Lahm were scratching their heads.

Schweinsteiger said: “The work Redknapp has done at Tottenham is perfect. The other one, I don’t know.

“I hope he will bring the national team of England back to the top because it is a footballing nation and England should be one of the top teams in the world.”

Asked if he had at least heard of Hodgson, Schweinsteiger added: “Yes, but I can’t tell you anything about what he’s like with players, or how he trains them.

“I’ve heard more about Harry Redknapp because, with Tottenham, he played really good football, especially in the Champions League last season.”

Why are The Sun going to such lengths to quote German players and officials about the FA's choice of England Manager?? Did the German press quote Harry or Stevie G when Joachim Low was given the German coaching job??

Why not ask the Argentinians as well?

Harry's chums in the press seem to be suffering meltdown; Pathetic really

Although the Sun should go with the decision, I do think that the FA royally fudged up.

Even at the press conference just after Capello went they said themselves there was one overiding candidate, implying Redknapp.

I personally think the FA are pretty game on for a little riddicule

Remember Polls being done at the time had Harry in the 80% to be manager, with Guardiola, Mourinho next.. Hodgson probably had 1%.

Nice to know Schweinsteiger and Lahm know who we are. Podolski must be a bit of a spastic really if he doesn't know who Spurs are.

Really?? How about the ridicule of losing a 12 point lead on your rivals for 3rd place? Or perhaps the FA had Hodgson in mind when they said perferred candidate: a man who can speak several languages (political nouse the FA probably desperately needs post FIFA vote debacle) and has actually got experience managing internationally and abroad?

FA choosing eiher candidate was understandable, but I think to say they are worthy of ridicule for choosing Hodgson ignores BOTH candidates pros and cons

I honestly think that England will stink out the Euros.

Players will not want to play for Woy

FA have a decision to make on the stupid 4 year deal they gave him.

It could affect us next season with the media continuing the witch hunt and then imagine them coming back for Harry in 6 months.

You could argue England will stink whoever is in charge, especially given the lack of preparation.
It will affect us next season if Harry or the players let it

Every man and his dog knew they were saying Redknapp at that press conference.

Hodgson don't need to speak 5 languages to do the England job. lol.. OK maybe two Scouse and English.

In any case screw FIFA and its racist backhander reacharound tossers, we don't need to pander to there needs.

Personally think preperation is a myth

The footbal side of things can be handled adequatley in the 3 weeks prior to the two friendlies. Its all the logistical things that the FA has to do thats the time consumer that can be delegated away from the manager.

Harry IMO could pick his squad tomorrow if he wanted and it wouldn't be any different than if he had 6 months let alone 3 weeks, as would Hodgson.

Even if Redknapp was their choice (and even that was press/Harry's chums) speculation, do you not think the 12 point lead being lost may have made them re-think? Plus the cost of compensation and the media circus and lack of political tact (from their point of view) that perhaps goes with Redknapp and you can see why they might have thought 'hang on a minite here..'

The man on the street has the same sentiments about FIFA but ultimately English football suffers if there isn't a bit of politicking with FIFA, sadly

I think Harry would probably agree that preparation is a myth. But any international team that goes into a tournament with that attitude will usually get their asses handed to them. Perhaps only Brazil with the natural talen they usually have couldn get away with that attitude.

If England really don't prepare, they'll be out before the knockouts

Some would argue they chose Hodgson so they couldn't be blamed for the bad run.

The compensation shouldn't be an issue, did they think that when handing hodgson 4 years.

This next year will be brutal if they don't get results.. turnip head will be small fry in comparison.

Besides I saw a programme recently where the FA were buying art, they are known to have 100m+ in the kitty.

Please divulge how English football suffers at the bad relationship with FIFA. You saying FIFA refs are rigged or matches are!? Not sure what you mean.

Disagree, if the players don't want to, they'll be out before the knockouts... see last tournament about attitudes in all games. Look at Chelsea... Look at Liverpool 'with Hodgson'... Ramos at Tottenham

Preperation has nothing to do with it.

3 weeks is ample time with an international squad. If it wasn't Woy wouldn't do the last two WBA games. Or maybe he isn't and Arsenal are being given 3 pts.

I think FIFA are corrupt at the core, but they also have people who get annoyed at Engllish Football's hypocritical attitude to a lot of things (eg Racism in football, Suarez incident etc) and try to strike out every now and then to 'even' things out. They have been quoted as saying they wish English football would reach out more to grass roots elsewhere (and not just in terms of selling PL tv rights).

English football then suffers often I feel from dodgy refereeing decisions in key games both internationally and in European club competitions, plus I think they despise the commercial profiteering aspects of the PL and the elevation it hasb often given to clubs like Chelsea in the champions league. FFP is really to curtail English clubs growing through financial city of london type investment and commercialisation. Didn't have a problem with Barca, Madrid and Italian clubs being financially doped befiore did they?
They also deep down don't like our football in Europe. Whilst often exciting gto watch the execs at UEFA hate it when there are two clubs in CL final from here more than they would in two clubs from other countries. It's why since 2008, the draws have been rigged to stop the possibilty of another Chelsea-Manu final and when thet might fail a referee gives Barca every chance of snatching a late equaliser in 2009...

Whilst football can be overcomplicated, to disregard the effect that fitness, peak conditional, knowing how your opposition play and exploiting weaknesses, having a plan A, B, C etc can have in increasing your chances of success is naive to say the least.

All those managers had succes/failure as a COMBINATION of attitude and preparation (or wrong/lack of).

Example, Ramos lost the dressing room before getting sacked but had a ridiculous win ration with Madrid thereafter, though a supreme Barca side were too good in the end.
Ramos previously won a cup final agaisnt a side who were much better than the side that recently dingdonged us in the FA Cup semi. Preparation is not to be underestimated (though in Hodgson's case granted he can take it to boring extremes it would appear from rumours)
