    1990 was the worst World Cup I'd ever seen. Ireland v England was eye gougingly bad and there were a lot of games like that. I think it had the lowest goals per game of any WC until 2010. The football now, even allowing for @statlover1's valid point, is light years ahead of 1990 WC. Euro 96 I found fairly entertaining though.

    Sterling is bad, but Mount, Grealish, every other attacking midfielder in England think they are some kind of false 9 with no main striker in the team.

    That is on Southgate, you have one of the best strikers in the world, every other attacking player has one of two fudging jobs -> pass it to Kane in a dangerous area and/or make space for him with your runs ... nothing else.

    I think he's not quite world best but he is very good and very close if he keeps up his performance.

    Tend to agree with you, there is no doubt he is top class going forward but as a defender he is not really that good.
