Next Manager?

Doesn’t count though as it isn’t the same as taking two very well invested sides in Germany to the level their spending suggested they should
And that’s not saying Nagelsmann isn’t any good but has he actually done anything in the game? I’m yet to see any evidence. His sides have lost big key games which is very sexy

I don't know enough about Nagelsmann to comment but his reputation is very high and it sounds like he gets his teams playing good football and with Hoffenheim he had them performing better than anyone before or since (?), regardless of money.

They were a new rich club
He did really well but they did invest to improve. They were about 6th highest spenders in his last season IURC and they got CL
That’s a good thing too. A manager who can integrate signings is key
I’m not saying he isn’t possibly the next big thing but I’m not convinced the hype is merited either yet

They could be safe with 5 games to go
That’s better than anyone has achieved there isn’t it?
Their GD is also currently -6 which is massive improvement on recent seasons
It’s why their not bottom 3 as they can defend. What they can’t do is take their chances
I don’t think we will got for Potter myself, we will want a name
But I think we miss a trick not looking at managers who coach again (which is where we went right with Poch)

2019/20 41 points 15th
2018/19 36 points 17th
2017/18 40 points 15th

last three seasons for Brighton, they need 8 points from 5 games to just match last seasons point haul

if they finish 17th/16th - that’s not much of a, if any of an improvement on league position/points from previous manager

They must be doing something with it to maintain their Xgs for and against that would mean a much higher league position
And yeah Brighton fans feel their going backwards by actually staying in the league... it’s another careful what you wish for moment
Brighton have an abysmal record vs Sheffield. Not beaten them in 12 games now. Nothing new for them
They have a great record vs us though under Potter winning half their games. What do you judge? Personally I look at how the lesser sides approach their games vs the better sides and Brighton under Potter go toe to toe with all of them. That’s actually rare and kinda unique. It shows confidence and bravery, which are two things we have been lacking lately.

Having a high XG and not winning games isn’t an achievement in my mind and it’s been an issue for both his seasons now.

It’s actually quite common for lesser teams to have a go at bigger teams now, Howe had a pretty attacking style and took Bournemouth from League 1 to the PL?

I really don’t get the drum banging for potter, they have had some awful results this season with an ok squad and have not showed much improvement from last season
It's not an ok squad, it's a terrible squad.
Sanchez is an ok keeper. The only decent defender they have is Dunk. Lamptey is going going forward but poor defensively.
In midfield Bissouma is really good and I wouldn't us getting him, Gross is average and the rest are poor.
Up front, Maupay is championship level and that is being kind. Welbeck is poor as well.

He has them playing good football, creating loads of chances and just need a proper goal scorer to be a top half team.

Having a high XG and not winning games shows that they create a lot but haven't a decent forward.
Compare that to us, we've a striker that constantly takes chances but we create little. If Potter could replicate
the chance creation with us and Kane as a striker we'd be comfortably top 4 and I reckon second.

It’s no worse than the Saudi Sportswashing Machine/Burnley/Palace squad minus A few standout names.

they have players like Trossard/Bissouma/Dunk/White/Sanchez/Veltman/Lallana/lamptey/propper who are all decent players.

It is worse than Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Palace, I'd say similar to Burnley.

Trossard is ok, finishing is poor. I rate Bissouma highly and think he'll be a top club in the next couple of years. Dunk is decent.
Lallana hasn't been good for a couple of years. The rest are championship/relegation standard.

If our transfer budget wasn’t zero, we should be all over Bissouma in the summer.

that’s was Bournemouth’s only way of playing
It’s why they got relegated
Maybe doing it and not relegated is the clever bit

Their decent
A few of them are actually very good
But their not great

Who would you go for?

To be honest mate i have not really got a favourite. I do not really follow much football abroad anymore so do not have a clue about how good some are. Potter has done OK no more then that for me and you can say the same for Howe for the time he was in the Prem. We all know that appointing any manager is a risk and our record over the years has shown that it does not always play out.

If we get Potter then of course i will support him as i have with every manager we get ( the only two i was against were Graham and "rent a quote").

Know anyone held in regard from your old coaching circles?

Know anyone held in regard from your old coaching circles?

They are a lot of good coaches about, but most of my work was in youth coaching as for me there was more satisfaction in seeing kids progress then the pressure at older ( mens) stages.

Taking the large jump from youth football to the first team level involves far more pressure and that is why most of the coaches who excel with the younger age groups do not always want or do step up to the older game.
