Xavi Simons

I am not sure Chelsea are officially 'in' right now though. Garnacho just across their line, and the Barca lad being tracked...of course, it only takes a dither or a phone call. I'd say it's accurate to believe that if they came in they could financially just drop some stupid contract in front of the agent and that would be that...let's hope the timing of this moment works in our favor for once!
Let's hope

Coming to us first is the key to why he won't come, now opens up the options for others to impress, people now seemingly know the hand we have dealt. Oh well

I think this is the gamble.
We must've ascertained that only us and possibly Chelsea are in a position to make it happen, someone must've ascertained that Chelsea are looking in other areas at this moment, and the conclusion must've been that this is the moment...good GHod that's a lot of assumption on my part LOL! ALLLLLLLLL part of the fun I suppose...

Personally think he's the most talented of the 4, also the youngest. The scope for his development is massive. He was ahead of all 4 until the injury he had, from which he's never really hit the levels he was expected to. He's regressed to a more similar level of the guys you quoted. At worst he's probably similar to them but their is the potential for him to quite exceed what any of them can do and his is significantly younger than all of them. At the start of the window if you had given me the choice he's actually the one I like the most of the quartet.

Be interesting if we actually got him, I kind of can't see it if if I'm honest though.
Tottenham Hotspur levy historical abuse at its finest

Chelsea want him
That’s clear as day
But Chelsea also have restrictions to comply to under their UEFA settlement
They are bringing in ganacho to replace Nkunku
They need a buyer for Jackson to fund Simmons under their restrictions or they have to sell a few others
Mad thing is they are selling* people they haven’t finished paying for

Meh he seems decent, but I'd have been equally happy with some of the others we tried for. At least we are shopping for the right players. We just need to get one of the ungrateful feckers signed up.

I can imagine Tel/Odobert are secretly hoping we don't sign him, so they get more game time.

Depends how we play. If he plays as a 10 they'll get plenty of game time.

These 20-30 year olds will have grown up watching Chelsea win everything

Yup, the players we want to sign will barely be old enough to remember us winning the Carling Cup in 2008 but would have seen €havski win every single trophy available and I doubt any of them could give 2 figs that it was due to a Russian oligarch bankrolling them and thus not nearly so glorious an achievement as when we won the double back when their grandparents were in their twenties!

I don’t think this matters as a core reason we would lose out on a player. Because when clubs decide to up their level of ambition, they can compete for players against those clubs.

Eg Ashley Cole left Wenger and the recent invincibles for the new Chelsea project. City, with less recent success, also plundered Arsenal for a couple of years.

If we want to change things, we can.

Lets gooooooooo! Really hope we get this done. I’d call it a statement of intent signing.

Absolutely hilarious that Spurs are putting out vibes of ‘we want this done quickly or not at all.’ No messing about, and understandable after everything that has happened so far. Let’s see if it pans out.
