I think he's a bit over rated tbh Palace fans seem to think he was pretty anonymous in any game where they were not playing on the counter too. That may be putting off more dominant teams?

It wasn't even that conversation. He was being cited as someone who improved the quality of their passing later in their career (not at all the case), rather than anyone actually critiquing him as a player.

...with all the pressures and extra fatigue on players these days, are we witnessing a situation where elite talent that is sold on DeZerbi would actually see us as a great place to compete AND not get flogged to within an inch of health this season (with wages at CL levels obviously being the main influence)? A season of less club games balanced against rotations and international matches for one season might be perfect for some who have been overplayed the last two/three seasons?

What I always wondered with Mousa is how much of him playing in other positions made him the centre mid he became. I can imagine Clint Dempsey would rave about how the Fulham Dembele enabled him to become a free scoring player. The perfect foil in the left attacking channel. I actually thought that is what Spurs were getting. Then a couple of years later we saw a different Dembele.

I would imagine it certainly played a part in his development as a CM. But he was without a doubt a natural talent in certain aspects of his game.
If I were teaching youth football, I would have players routinely moving between positions to a) learn different skill sets but also b) learn how to defend against those positions now knowing what they are looking to do when they receive the ball.
