Transfer thread

Until next summer, when we hopefully go in big for Wharton...

;)
Wharton crumpled to the ground yet again yesterday. He has real class so he kinda walks around the midfield, choosing when to run, but then he just snaps like a twig every few games. Something we do NOT need in our squad.

Considering how many of our perma-crocs weren’t considered injury prone prior to signing for us, perhaps Wharton will be the opposite

Cant win them all. And if you factor in that Sarr and Udogie were similar youth punts at a similar time, combined we definitely won

Yep, and I find the narrative that it is Gil's fault that Lamela left a little baffling. It was surely Lamela's time to leave the club. Not his fault but whenever we needed him to be fit for match day selection he was never available.

Overall a strong window imo. Let's see what Simons and Kolo Muani can do for us, but seems to me like good signings adding to Kudus and Palhinha.

Let's see how they actually do, but 4 new first team ready players with real qualities along with Danso and Tel made permanent and young talent in Takai. Higher end of expectations for me.

Gives Frank a lot more to work with than we had last season. Very happy with Frank too and of course the new contract to Romero.

A real good feeling about the new season quashed a bit by the Bournemouth result and performance. But those games happen. Looking forward to seeing what this team can do this season.

This is the Athletics transfers this summer ranked for the PL

Number 1 might surprise you.

131. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton to Leeds United

Transfer fee: Free

Contact length: Three years

As his debut in the Carabao Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday showed, this is a player short of rhythm and confidence. Only scored 17 league goals for Everton in the past four seasons thanks to injuries and, while the lack of a fee takes away an element of risk, Leeds have taken a gamble here. The organisers of Leeds Fashion Week will be delighted, mind.

111. Jordan Henderson, Ajax to Brentford

Transfer fee: Free

Contract length: Two years

His influence in the dressing room will undoubtedly be strong, but has he got the legs and/or the sharpness at 35 years old to anchor a Premier League midfield? If the answer is yes, he’ll be a huge help to the likes of Yehor Yarmolyuk and Mikkel Damsgaard. Either way, a low-risk, low-frills deal. And at least Brentford’s human-rights record is respectable.
:D

14. Florentino Luis, Benfica to Burnley

Transfer fee: Loan

Contract length: One year

A well-trodden path. If ever a signing epitomised how the Premier League is the Super League in all but name, it’s Florentino Luis joining Burnley (who even have an option to buy). No Primeira Liga midfielder produced more tackles and interceptions combined than his 134 last season and he’s just played 144 matches in three seasons at Benfica. A defensive midfielder’s defensive midfielder.
Sounds like one to keep an eye on.
