I would still like us to experiment with Romero as the DM, before a back four of Porro, VDV, Danso and Udogie (or Vuskovic, Spence). Mascherano-style, he is so good on the ball. Main question would be: does Romero himself feel like doing that. Might hurt his credentials as a central defender for Argentina for example. And, of course, will we manage to keep him over the summer.

The above would perhaps enable us, Ange-style, to field two more attacking-minded midfielders - preferably Bergvall and one more.

I don't think you convert one of the top 10 CBs in the world, to a more physically demanding position, in the second half of his career. It feels like another convert Kane to an ACM call.

Listened to a ton of podcasts on the drive yesterday and one of them brought up ManU's interest in him. Apparently he doesn't like following instructions, he wants to feel the game and do HIS thing.
Good.
As Man Utd are falling apart it'd be just swell if they could now blow a huge chunk of their limited budget on a maverick likely to fall out with coaches and teammates while failing to properly play within the set-up they want

I guess Weds amazing result opens up the club vs association trained debate again. From what I remember, we only had 2 club trained in Whiteman and Austin. The former is probably leaving the club.

What is left?

A-list - Venom, Kinsky, Keeley, Porro, Udogie, Romero, VDV, Dragusin, Danso, Vuskovic, Bentancur, Bissouma, Gray, Sarr, Bergval, Kulu, Yang, Son, Richi, Tel, Gil, Veliz, Solomon,

Club Trained - Austin,

Association Trained - Spence, Maddison, Johnson, Solanke, Scarlett

B-list - Phillips, Dorrington, Abbott, Donley, Devine, Odobert, Moore, Lanks

So we have 26 A-list players for 17 spaces. As you can only have 4 association trained named, that means we are 10 players over before we can even add one more. That is heightened for one more season as some of the young guys need to have completed 2 seasons at the club before they can move into one of the other buckets.

Fortunately, the B-list looks in a healthy state. Guys like Phillips and Devine could become important squad members to plug the club trained gap.

Which would be good DMs to try and get to teach Archie Gray? Do we get an old one on a two year Naybet type deal?

You can have more than 4 association trainer players. The 4 id the minimum required not the maximum.

That bunch above is our A list…. And that is assuming we sell none of them and buy Tel (I think at least two of the above will be sold).
