Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Thanks for proving my point. 1 year when we finished 5th, above expectations. And the 2nd year when we won a European trophy. And yet still he was sacked.

The last 6 months in the league were rubbish, and fans like you could barely fudging get through it. 6 months!

that wasn't above expectations, we were top after 10 games

no other team has ever failed to qualify for the CL after a start like that

season 1 ended in disaster, season 2 was even worse

Most importantly, the league is tight.
Win Vs Everton, might be 2nd.
Lose, Everton move from 14th to level on points with us.
Oh, and Sunderland are currently 2nd!

I don't think this season will properly take shape until Xmas time.

My thoughts as well, we have some fans foaming at the mouth about our form after 3 months. Its going to take far longer then that before we see any REAL progress. New manager and a bunch of new players plus some injurys to important players.

There’s one position that’s taking shape that is already bothering me somewhat.

I need someone to tell me how they’re not going to win the league.

When people say Ange’s first season ended in disaster I’m just begging them to actually look at our results over the course of that season. Anyone would think we went from title contention to relegation form. But it’s just not the case. Yes, we dropped off after a crazy good start, but we had plenty of good performances and results throughout the rest of that season.

If you look from game 11 of the first season to the end of Ange’s second season then it was relegation form. And he continued that with Forest.

Yeah we were only going 1 way with Ange. This is his record with us

1st Season
First 19 games - 1.95 PPG
Last 19 games - 1.57 PPG

2nd season
First 19 games - 1.26 PPG
Last 19 games - 0.73 PPG

Going by @carl ’s post above, 1.57 ppg for the last 19 games of his first season, would average out to 59 points over a full league campaign. I’ve never understood the idea that we descended into relegation form. We simply didn’t maintain a crazy good start, and decided to roll about ten dice at once in the Chelsea game at home, none of which came off, and which we suffered the consequences of in terms of suspensions for a few games following.

The second season from November onwards was its own unique thing in terms of injuries and schedule, and still ending with a trophy. But I’m talking specifically about the first season which seems to have become accepted wisdom that we would have been relegated but for the first ten games. It’s just not the case.
