The transfer window thread.

Jose Mourinho's Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the hunt for Lille goal machine Victor Osimhen - but Spurs are far from the only club linked.

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be one of the clubs in the hunt for Lille striker Victor Osimhen but a Sky Sports report suggests Spurs and the rest of the chasing pack could be left disappointed this month.

Osimhen has enjoyed a superb debut season for the French club, weighing in with an impressive 10 goals and four assists in just 18 Ligue 1 appearances, plus a further two goals in the Champions League and one in the Coupe de la Ligue (Transfermarkt).

Despite having only switched clubs last August, joining Lille from Belgian club Charleroi in a £10.8million fee on a five-year deal, the 21-year-old is already being linked with the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea.

“I’m sure he’s going to be a phenomenon,” the Nigeria international’s former Charleroi teammate Nicolas Penneteau told Voix du Nord - as quoted by Goal.com - at the start of the season. “I’d compare him to Didier Drogba. He has the same profile. He can do everything and he’s phenomenally powerful.”

However, Sky Sports has claimed that only one player has been earmarked by Lille to be sold this month - midfielder Boubakary Soumare, a box-to-box midfielder in the "mould of Paul Pogba" who has two-and-a-half years left on his contract.

As for Osimhen, he reportedly "will not depart unless Lille receive an eye-watering offer" - and given he's young, contracted to the club until the summer of 2024 and has already proven himself in the French top flight with potentially much more to come, who could blame them for such a stance?

The Telegraph stated a month ago that new Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho was to delve into the January market for a back-up to Harry Kane, and given the England star has now been sidelined with a hamstring injury, Spurs may well be stepping up their efforts.

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly like the young Celtic marksman.

Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Celtic hitman Odsonne Edouard, according to a report.

Jose Mourinho needs a new striker in North London this month after Harry Kane was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Tottenham's only alternatives to Kane are a 17-year-old Troy Parrott, and two wingers in the form of Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura.

And according to 90 Min, Spurs are monitoring the in-form Celtic striker who would be up for leaving Glasgow this month.

The report adds that the North Londoners could have competition from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea and that Edouard is viewed as a 'viable alternative' to Moussa Dembele by all three.

Edouard cost the Hoops a club-record £9 million fee in the summer of 2018 and has netted 17 goals across all competitions this season.

Realistic?
Unless Tottenham stump up stupid money, which chairman Daniel Levy won't in January, then Celtic don't need to worry about losing the former Paris Saint-Germain youth.

Plus, the 21-year-old is a young and very capable striker, and one who probably doesn't want to spend the next few years being Kane's understudy.

On the surface it would seem like Spurs could tempt Edouard, but his first-team prospects would be dreadful and therefore Bhoys boss Neil Lennon shouldn't be overly worried by him jumping ship this month.

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be interested in signing Borussia Dortmund striker Paco Alcacer in the January transfer window.

The Transfer Window podcast featuring Duncan Castles and Ian McGarry have claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is only prepared to sanction an offer which would see Alcacer move to North London on loan with an option to make the switch permanent.

The approach is said to be unlikely to be accepted by the German giants.

Tottenham are without their main striker after Harry Kane suffered a hamstring tear during the New Year’s Day defeat at Southampton with the club yet to confirm how likely he is expected to be out of action for.

Alcacer has scored seven goals in 15 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions this season but has failed to hold down a starting place in recent months (transfermarkt).

wow we are linked to all and sundry for the jan window which levy traditionally detests!
how quickly things change in football lol
i still think we need to see outgoings before incomings - any news/rumours/spoeculation of jan transfers for our deadwood appreciated

3 months with no Moussa. Doesn't strike me as an area we will rush to fill just because of an injury. Hopefully we have something longer term that could be brought forward.

If Eriksen goes, and with Moussa injured., we are going to be very light in that area and I just hope it doesn't result in Dele being pulled back to help.

Going straight to the source it seems.... as I think this is the guy that Lyon have identified to replace Moussa Dembele if they sell him to Chelsea or whoever for mega bucks this Jan/Summer.
