The Official 2024/25 Premier League Thread

Now its safe for me to post.

It's on now. I posted a few weeks ago I can see them finishing 3rd, right now there's even a chance they can finish 4th

Arsenal - Liverpool (a), Saudi Sportswashing Machine (h), Soton (a)
City - Soton (a), Bournemouth (h), Fulham (a)
Saudi Sportswashing Machine - Brighton (a), Chelsea (h), Arsenal (a), Everton (h)

Arsenal are winning the last match so thats 70pts (w/o the Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Liverpool games)
You can make a case for City winning all 3pts and finishing on 72pts
Toon should be winning both homes, maybe a draw at Brighton? 69pts (w/o Arsenal game)

For me the key game is Arsenal v Saudi Sportswashing Machine. I see them losing at Anfield. So Home win v Toon and they finish 2nd; Draw and I think City just pip them; Away win, and I will wet myself if they finish 4th
Liverpool are on holliday now. Even we would have a chance of beating them now.

The problem is more of giving those players game time in the first team. Or even at lower league teams. Lankshear was pl2 top scorer and player of the season last year in an all conquering team. Yet has hardly got any minutes this season even out on loan.
That is because he is not yet good enough. There is a world of difference between age group football and men’s football. Lankshear still has lots of improving to do. Championship is still at least one level too high for him IMO.

You're absolutely right, but few give them a chance as hardly any manager is going to put his job on the line by playing them in the first team and loans rarely work out for same reason. We need a league that offers young players games against experienced players not their peers, the gap is massive between academy and 1st team football.
I have always been an advocate of feeder clubs, though I think restrictions would have to be put on those, perhaps that they cannot climb higher than league 1, cannot play more than 3 players over 23 and cannot include more than 2 overseas players.

Derby 07/08 still the worst team to have ever played in the PL. City had a chance to go second, but would rather draw with a Southampton side whose entire output this game was a single corner kick.

Toon 2-0

Some massive games coming up
Arsenal v Saudi Sportswashing Machine next week for who finishes 2nd
and
Last weekend. Forest v Chelsea. Winner gets CL, loser gets EL???

Liverpool taking the tinkle out of scum on the pitch and in the stands “best team in Europe you’re having a laff”

Arsenal need two strikers and if they’re going to be really ruthless then they need to replace Martinelli as well as he hasn’t kicked on.

Don’t think it’s a guarantee the Arse would beat Southampton. Last PL home game, if there’s a chance avoiding defeat would mean the Arse are 6th then could be tasty.
