The Cricket Thread

Kookaburra ball has been thrashed about this weekend.

Many centurions already, plenty of double centurions and of course a triple last weekend.

Every game into the fourth day with much to be done.

On their day our bowling attack is as good as any other county team if not the best

Scoring runs has been the issue, so far this season it’s been very good but early days

Weather is going to play a part up at Chester le Street. Essex should well carry a lead but the first innings will stretch long into day four and the pitch is not yielding wickets.

Meanwhile at the Oval, Surrey have Hants on the rack and will be looking to bowl them out this afternoon for an innings victory.

Weather's dictating the title again. Calls for contingency days now that the weather's dreadful in April and its the bulk of early 4 day games

I don’t really agree with that, there have been a lot of runs and not enough wickets-particularly with the kookaburra ball in rounds one and two. Surrey and Essex have good attacks and each have got results despite lost overs.

Surrey didn’t even bat in round one with no chance of batting points.

42 games and only 5 results so far

Haven't looked deeper into the stats but the weather surely plays a significant part in that

Those few wins have come from impressive bowling performances rather than more hours of play.

The kookaburra ball is a lot harder to control than the normal English ball so there were a lot more runs in the first two rounds contributing to draws.

I think it fair to say I would accept the western grounds especially Manchester get less overs in a summer- but Surrey already played there.
