The Centre Forward thread

The thing is, I think we can all be guilty of it to an extent, we all see the game through our own bias and eyes BUT I think you have to be a special kind of person to set up these YTs and channels online to claim you are some tactical genius when, like you say, you have zero experience in the game and also if you were so knowledgeable, you would be in the game.

I honestly think alot of this comes from a failure to be in the game so they tear down people who are, the lads on the extra inch podcase are horrific for it, when in reality they have not left their mums spare room whilst chatting utter garbage about how they could do better than actual talent scouts and those who have made it in the game.

I was so lucky in covid to have got a job which meant I was project managing with the PL, got to get around Palace, Brentford, Spurs and West Ham and what you notice is that 90% of whats chatted online is rubbish BUT those in the game, even those who have not played it and now work in it have absolutely grafted their arses off to do it and put their head above the parapet in a role which actually means something and importantly has consequences to their decisions. Easy to tear that apart, much harder to actually be the one doing it

It’s extra funny because the general consensus is that people in the game have no idea, yet these 17 year olds who can make a decent YouTube thumbnail and edit a video have all the answers.

My nephews spent about £80k ish I think on getting his masters
His salary at a pro club is minimum wage but less because of the hours he puts in
He is asked to review and analyse players getting paid weekly what he earns in a year
He also has scouting and coaching qualifications because Loughborough make you do that too as an extra skillset
Getting a job is so so hard because there is an huge pool of people who what these iobs
The YouTube ones pay better and you’re your own boss. You don’t have to have any credentials or back anything up
fudging scary

The scary part for me is in the information and social media age the cross hairs are now put on people like your nephew and people in the background who are having their work and lives put through the ringer by bust cnuts on YT and with blue ticks on twitter. 20 years ago no one cared about the backroom staff, now people are trying to expose people for being failures in the club. The scary thing is it gets traction.

My issue is that these yt guys never go back and talk about their failures. They will slate the Andy Robinson signing because they have a list of left backs from Belgium. But won’t remember they wanted us to spend £40M on Patson Daka.

Yeh and look, we all make mistakes in players we like, but there is zero impact when we get it wrong, so we can literally list a bunch of players, get them wrong and never mention it again. Easy job when its like that

Social media in general is an absolute cancer on society. It’s literally rewired people’s brains. The worst aspect now is it’s almost impossible to completely avoid it. The ban on under-16s is something I 100% support as a father with two teenagers. I don’t really count old-school message boards such as this in the same way as your Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, and YT, etc.

I wanted Daka
Never know how he may have worked out here or another club

This is self policing and also a much older audience
That shows
