Overall not great, but we did create some moments and thought Simons looked much better centrally. It's not going to be an easy games for most teams this season so can't be too critical, but there is still a lot of work to do attacking wise....

Xavi was impressive with the ball. A nice range of passing and ability to drop a shoulder and beat a player.
Kudus was Kudus, ran through 3 players at one point.
Tel and Odobert some good parts.

We got into a lot of nearly really good situations.
The xG wasn’t great, but we were one good touch away from being one on one quite a few times.
We looked dangerous from balls over the top, didn’t do enough of it imo.

Again, watching him speak: I’m not having a pop at any particular predecessor, but My GHod, I understand him when he talks! The normality is so refreshing. The apparent lack of obsessive egotism. I hope that doesn’t turn out to be a negative - I want Spurs to succeed with somebody I’m not embarrassed by at the helm.

And it doesn’t matter ultimately because it feels like goalkeepers get about a year of being brick (especially at top clubs) before a manager even thinks about replacing them. Not sure why that is. Any other position and you’re hooked if you don’t perform for 5-10 games. Vicario has been poor for most of last season and this season. If you even completely ignore today.

He’s been at fault for a number of goals already this season. He was poor in the EL final and was generally shaky last season.

He made a game winning save in the last minute of the EL final.
Keepers are the last line of defence, they are only involved when the rest of the team have fudged up.
And we were fudging up repeatedly for the last two seasons.
I like Vic, he’s a proper keeper.

When you play against teams with good attacking players (some even world class), more often than not they will find a way to open you up, even if they don’t score.
What was the game winning save he made? From memory, the saves he made we fairly routine saves. Put if this way, if any of those chances or efforts on goal had gone in then you’d be asking questions of your goalkeeper.
This is without mentioning his major weakness from set pieces.
