Spurs v Emirates Marketing Project Match Ratings

Lloris - 7 - Made some great saves, especially the one from Navas which was the all important one in the second half.

Walker - 7 - He grew into the game, at fault for the City goal but he was very solid after that.
Alderweireld - 8 - Happy for him to score his first goal for the club, not a coincidence that our defence has looked much better with his addition
Vertonghen - 8 - He's having a very consistent season too, must love playing alongside his mate.
Davies - 7.5 - Brilliant again, just like last week.

Dier - 8.5 - Continues to grow into his role. Absolute monster today yet again. Cracking goal too.
Alli - 7 - Composed and disciplined performance from him today, didn't put a foot wrong. Loves a yellow card though.

Lamela - 9 - As close to the perfect performance. Assist for the second, fouled for the third and scored the fourth. Worked his feet into the ground, outstanding.
Eriksen - 7 - Not his best game but cracking free kick for Kanes goal. His second game in two and a half days following month out injured, he'll be back.
Son - 7 - Worked very very hard, didn't realise how hard he worked. He's going to be one hell of a player as the season goes on.

Kane - 8.5 - Didn't stop running. Fouled for the second goal, cracking finish for the third. Hopefully it's the start of a run.

Lloris deserves higher as he kept us in it with some of his saves

That was a massive win for the sheer amount of effort the players put in to get back in it

There were plenty of MOTMs out there

Verts and Toby were top drawer and Davies was too

We bossed the midfield with tow kids playing their 10th game combined in that position at this level

Son worked really hard a bad erisken did too at times

Lamella was like a rabid dog chasing but did the graft in attack and was outstanding in the end

Kane still liked like he was playing with too much pressure on his shoulders but his work rate is second to none

Compared to city's lack of fight, effort and drive and we were miles better although the press won't focus on that

Key points, think for the first time we are very close to a best 11

The defensive setup, Jan & Toby covered by Dier has us extremely solid
The attacking setup, Eriksen, Lamela, Son, Kane creates a lot of chances/problems for opposition

Walker did quite well deal with both Sterling & Kolarov (spelling?)

Actually thought Eriksn was off the pace of the game, but freekick showed how he can change games in a moment for us.

Kane/Lamela/Dier/Lloris all deserve kudos ...

Lloris with a mixed performance. His kicking put us in a lot of trouble.

Davies outstanding.

Walker had a few brainfarts.

Eriksen somewhere between invisible and average, but great freekick.

Kane and Lamela struggled in the first half, excellent afterwards.

No 10s or even 9s, but nobody stunk up the place.

Lloris - 8

Walker - 7
Toby - 8
Vertonghen - 8
Davies - 8

Dier - 8
Alli - 7

Lamela - 8
Son - 7
Eriksen - 6

Kane - 8

Lloris - 7.5. A bit shaky with his kicking at the start, but recovered to give a masterful shot-stopping display. Vorm, please learn from your captain.

Walker - 7.0. Gave away the ball for City's goal, but otherwise kept Sterling quiet and contributed up front (including with the cut-back that eventually led to Dier's goal)
Alderweireld - 7.75. Very good in the middle, shut down Aguero with ease: something none of our CBs over the past few years could do. Scored as well.
Vertonghen - 7.0. Composed partner for Alderweireld - was visibly tasked with watching out for late runs from the Toure-Fernando-Fernandinho trio, and did reasonably well, Toure's assist aside.
Davies - 7.0. Unremarkable, mostly solid save for his absence on the left for KdB's goal.

Dier - 8. MOTM for me, and I say this as an admitted critic of his positioning (which still resembles that of a centre-back, imo). Commanding, powerful, got a goal, and never stopped charging into tackles with delightul ferocity.
Alli - 6.5. Unremarkable, energetic, powerful.

Lamela - 7.75. Infuriating decision-making, mixed with powerful running, great set pieces (including the assist for Toby), relentless pressing and a very decent goal to top it off. Good game overall, glad to see him keeping up his waxing form.
Son - 7.0. Relentless runner ,good link-up play with Kane, unlucky not to find the net when he met Walker's cut-back.
Eriksen - 7.5. He gives us fluidity, which is lovely to see. He also is an absolute terror when it comes to deadly free kicks, but we all knew that already. :p

Kane - 7.5. Closed down relentlessly, didn't let his head drop, and finally got his goal, possible offside not withstanding. Congratulations, Harry lad. Now get on with it. :D

Subs -

Chadli - 6.5. Solid enough, though unremarkable.
N'Jie - N/A, but a brilliant piece of skill on the wing to burst away and put Lamela through for the fourth goal.
Carroll - N/A.

Poch - 7.5. With gritted teeth....well done, Poch. Still angry at you for the NLD, but truly, well f*cking done today.

Linesman - 10. A perfect performance if I ever saw one. :D

First half 6/10
Second half 9/10

The work rate from the players in the second half was second to non and although it was still not the prettiest of football, it was our best half of football so far this season imo.

Been critical of Lamela for a while but he was outstanding today. He had a few Lamela moments but his work rate was top class and i hope this is the start of him coming good.

Davies was also 1 of our best players.

Davies wasn't on the left for the goal as it was put corner

He was central as he was the man who eventually went to Toure

I thought Eriksen was the man who went to Toure?

3 effectively did....Eriksen from behind....Davies came over from the right and even Alli from the left (well enough to make KdB an obvious ball)

As i sais in the OMT......we had the numbers but they made the wrong choices and some of that is trusting your teammates to deal with things.

Eriksen should have fouled him at half line and taken the yellow for the team ... simple.

Goal is a counter attack goal from a very good team with our players struggling to get back to position.

I accept those all day vs. the last few years of team in position and mid tier players walking through the team like fudging Messi ...

Lloris 7
Walker 6
Alderweireld 7
Vertonghen 7
Davies 7
Dier 8
Alli 7
Son 7
Eriksen 6
Lamela 8
Kane 7

Chadli 6
Njie 7
Carroll 6

Would have been a few +1s if the first half had been as good as the second
