Rating v Man C

Mauricio Taricco
Friedel - 7. Couple of important saves. Could do nothing with the goals.

Walker - 4. Really disappointing. Absolutely shocking passing (a theme through the whole team)
Gallas - 5. Caught by the through ball constantly.
Caulker - 5. See Gallas.
Vertonghen - 5. Looked like he couldn't handle the pace.

Lennon - 5. Really offered nothing. Poor passing and decision-making.
Huddlestone - 6. Done well defensively, but poor passing.
Sandro - 8. Beast. Ran his heart out.
Bale - 5. Completely blocked out of the game.

Dempsey - 3. Possibly the most pointless player I've seen in a long time. I don't know if it's him, or the formation, but he offers nothing. Awful passing/positioning/effort/confidence.

Adebayor - 8. Worked his arse off, wish he'd shoot more when he has the chance as opposed to playing the pass.

Cant disagree much with those ratings

Dont think Walker was any poorer than the other 3 in the backline though

Only players I can really rate are Sandro and Adebayor. The rest were poor or borderline terrible.

Marking Walker down on his woeful distribution. Was absolutely dreadful today. He couldn't even take a throw-in to our players!

Hugo would've saved Dzeko's.

might have hit it off his own leg into our net too. who knows these thing

de gea let something similar in. it isnt about age.....its about reactions reflexes and line of sight. clearly brad on that occasion with dawson in front of him and the ball getting blasted at close range was not up to the task and reacted slowly

lloris might well have saved it, but if he is so amazing he needs explaining on some goals he's conceded

Why do you bother mate?

Friedel - 6 - Decent performance, made a couple of decent saves. Not anything he could do about either of the City goals really.

Walker - 5 - Not as bad as he has been recently, but he just doesn't link up with Lennon well at all.
Gallas - 5 - Not a great performance, didn't have the intelligence to cover for his lack of pace.
Caulker 7 - A good performance from the young lad. He did very well coming across to cover for Vertonghen numerous times.
Vertonghen - 5 - Is not a Left back by nature. Then again most natural left backs would suffer facing Silva and Tevez.

lennon - 5 - Didn't really run at anyone which he always seems to like doing. Worked his socks off defensively though.
Huddlestone - 5 - Let his man past him on a number of occasions. Doesn't do as well when he is closed down and not allowed time on the ball.
Sandro - 8 - Devastating. Dominated Yaya Toure at times which is not an easy thing to do.
Bale - 4 - Did nothing. In fact he did worse than nothing. The few times he did get the ball he shot at goal. Bar the one shot on goal he did get which was a bizarre combination of multiple defensive errors by City players.

Dempsey - 5 - Got involved at times in the first half, but faded in the second.

Adebayor - 8 - managed to create and hold the ball up on multiple occasions when nobody was helping him. Also because he manages to irritate defenders to the point at which they do stupid things.

AVB - Justified starting eleven, but not helped by the failure of his wingers to turn up. Playing on the counter without them is difficult. Slightly odd substitutions.

Friedel - 7. Good double save late on, made some assured stops earlier and looked solid. Sorry, Hugo.

Walker - 5. Not particularly good at anything; distribution, defending, attacking or awareness, but didn't do anything spectacularly wrong either.
Gallas - 5. Made some interceptions, but was caught out as the weak link more than once.
Caulker - 7. Assured. Strong, good in the air and composed on the ground.
Vertonghen - 5. Lack of serious pace was exposed with some purposeful City raids down his side.

Lennon - 4.5. Missed his interceptions all night, and was easily shackled by Clichy.
Sandro - 7.5. Monstrous.
Huddlestone - 5. Not his fault, really. But we do look pedestrian in midfield when he's around. Nice free-kick for the goal, though.
Bale - 4.5. Made the wrong decisions, didn't really support Verts at LB and was anonymous for most of the game.

Dempsey - 4.5. Did an effective job pulling Yaya Toure all over the place, but offered nothing otherwise.
Ade - 6. Held the ball up well, but wasn't really penetrative.

AVB - 5. Nothing particularly wrong, but did little to relieve the pressure we were under.

Overall, we were fudged by Silva, Aguero and Dzeko. Which is something we should be used to by now. Sigh.

Pretty much agree with these ratings. I know our bench isn't very strong but I would've liked AVB to at least have brought on some fresh legs a bit earlier in the 2nd half.
