PS2 / Footy games

cheers for the above guys - PES6 does seem to be awesome. just gotta battle with the choice of do i want the "offical teams" in the game. (i feel like a kid again - it's messed up!)

i remember i has an FA Cup game on the C64 - you had to pick a team and then it went through the rounds, vidi printer style, to see who won!
that was it, that was whole game - pick a team, sit back and see if you were lucky.
those were the days

Yes! I remeber that. You'd punch the air if you won :D

What was the game??

you can download things on PESForums and you can get up to date squads, teams in the league (so like Swansea in the prem etc) with up to date kits etc.. try it out!

Striker was pretty good. On the snes, you could score every time from outside the box into the roof of the net everytime with brazil

ah right, probably not mine then as i'm sure I would have tried that when I got it

i've had it for years, the first slim 160gb one I think

only the first 60gb fat version was ps2 compatible.
all are ps1 compatible though.

i was thinking ps2 wasn't very "old skool" so glad to see some others posting real old-skool games ;)

I was the f'ing boss at this game, and pretty much all its predecessors. We use to set-up mini-leagues every now and then between 4 of us, i dominated  4-3-3 all the way.

Haven't really got into any football games since the PS2/early PS3 footy games. I'm pretty useless when i try out the demos of the latest games.

In PES6 you could choose 4 teams and it would randomly select a squad out of those 4 teams... Can't believe no other game has done this...

RTWC98 was on the original playstation wasn't it?

also my version had Ginola on the front, not that impostor up there [-X

the first Premier Manager on the Mega Drive was legendary as well and the top view Italia '90

I still play PES6. I sourced it for 99p on ebay and updated it to the latest squads/kits/stadiums/stats thanks to an excellent (but masssive) patch from some guy called Shollym.

If you have a half decent Laptop, you can plug it into your telly, plug in a couple of USB controllers and it's just like the old days.
