Politics, politics, politics

Tories have a majority, most of Labour will vote for it so no worries - I hope it isn't carte blanche go do what you want and there are checks along the way. I see there is a case in Ireland that may go to Luxembourg to get clarification on if after we have enacted article 50 if it can be withdrawn.

Labour are a mess. They do need to push Corbyn out and get a more centre left leader to unify the party and actually do politics instead of bickering constantly.

That won't happen till at least after they lose another election.

They are currently in theeir Duncan-Smith/Foot phase. They've then got to go throught their Howard/Kinnock/Smith rebuild, and then find their Cameron/Blair

most of them are in the private sector earning lots of money, still socialists though...

Well well well. I think myself and the other Brexit people have no been proved right.

Mr Verhofstadt who is back in the EU fold has come out today and said that the EU should have it's own treasury. So I guess that means we were right all along and that was the plans from Brussels for the EU.

Actually an apology from some on here who said that the EU did not want that might be quite nice right now.

The Eu is a bigger threat to the peace of Europe then Russia and it's leader.

Only rich people are socialists. Poor people don't want equality, they want more money. Thatcher's genius was tapping into that.

No, they want a society that affords them a fair go, decent education, housing, health care and decent conditions of work. They want equality of opportunity to earn more money, not one where they are locked out by the elite. That's the great con of Tory ideology, that everyone has an equal opportunity, all you have to do is work hard, when in reality the bases are loaded.

It's full of Little Englanders and crypto fascists. No wonder the Tory vote is so strong.

Is Southend where they want to build the new Grammar school as the one there is packed and so popular, sounds like Southend if not affluent, then certainly an area where parents have aspirations for their children to build a better life through education and hard work, so yeah pretty much tory territory.

There's a lot of Labour and Lib Dem areas that have parents who have aspirations for their children too.

There's also brickholes that vote Tory too; such as Swindon.

'Parental aspiration' and voting choice does not necessarily correlate imo

I can't hear the name Paul Nuttall without thinking of Stewart Lee's immigration bit, with "The UKIPs."

John Mann is right, Diane Abbott is a coward for not voting -- calling in sick ffs, pathetic.

I also don't think Corbyn should have whipped his MPs either. He never toed the line as a backbencher, so give them a free vote. He's no good at playing politics, so I don't know why he tries to. He should just be true to himself, but I guess he wasn't with the EU referendum either. Disappointing, but not surprising.
