Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Id actually say Ed Milliband is the standout politician in the country at the moment. The one who is really enacting some positive change. Id prefer him to succeed Starmer for the second term rather than Streeting

I think him and Corbyn were both given a very hard time.

Ed Miliband most unequivacally and least ideoloigcally. Ate a bacon sandwich and the way he ate made him unelectable.

Think stumbled once. Unacceptable

Guy sticks his dingdong in a pigs mouth. We'll have some of that.

Guy hides in a fridge for ages to avoid questions ahead of election? Got my vote

A friend of mine works for the Abu Dhabi government so has abit of an inside scoop on him and what they are doing and despite the "not net zero" cries there is alot of method in their madness. Its really interesting stuff

In hindsight I think Corbyns a man of many people and a real socialist, I just don't think he had the smarts to pretend to be central to win the election to then do the leftist socialist thing after.

I agree. I think he did demonstrate that he was extremley clumsy. There were things like the IRA stuff which he sould have just condemnded. Personally I give no fudges if NI joins Ireland or not.

I think often he tried to be too clever when really no one has time in the 21st century for anything complicated. Sound bites are king.

In terms of the antisemitism stuff I think he has been validated within the current climate, and that many people who disputed his personal views regarding the middle East are now agreeing more.

But at the time he should have just been more concise about saying "I will address x, y and x" and left it at that.

What I will say though is you don't spend your entire life taking your own time to fight racism, apartheid, corruption and wars before it was a thing.

He used to bone Dianne Abbott for crying out loud. If that aint taking one for the team to advance race relations I don't know what is

*** Funny anecodte. Abbott said Corbyn on their first date took them to Karl Marx tomb in Finsbury Park! Guess another decent example of the odd tone deafness at points***

I do find it extremley weird that Reform is still around.

In the UKIP days it made sense. They stood for Brexit.

In the Brexit party days it made less sense. But sure they wanted to be part of the neogitations.

Now with Reform they seem to be at max level popularity... but what is their use? They are conservatives?

They promise to be tougher on immigration. Like we haven't already had Torys promising migratio targets they never meet.

What is the difference between Farage, Johnson, Mogg?

I think I'd find it more understandbale if this was their popularity in the UKIP days. Now it is a bit puzzlig.

There are grifts to be had, the money train is massive on stringing people along and keeping them politically charged. Its like Robinson has a go fund me for his legal fees then doesn't use them, but he knows that sheep will pay up to fund his campaign *sniff sniff.

The likes of Brand, Tuffs and English making a fortune on YT peddling mentalist views often with guests with crazed conspiracy theories....PS like and subscribe, buy a magical gem or some CBD................

Fools and their money are soon parted and all that.............

Terrible thing is I am worried about this out of nowhere trajectory because Musk hasn't even backed them yet.

I do think Farage will be our next prime minister.

I think what will (pray will) happen is he will run the country like a generic Tory, fail to address any kind of migration figures... and will lose some of that mysituqe when people see he isn't an outsider. He is a multimilionaire banker.

Least with other parties there are principles. Labour is about working class justice. Tory is about mericotracy and opportunity for all. Lib Dems have PR and have long history in calling for legalisation of drugs.

These are what makes these people get out and vote for them.

I think if people coming over in small boats (which has happened here for about 10,000 years) is what makes some people get up in the morning all angry. People coming to settle when 99% will obey our laws (and the rest are simply typical criminality rates consistent across the globe) If thats your focus in life..

It's just a bit depressing....

And it does also make me laugh quite a lot.... Small boats... get a grip

All well and good screaming from the sidelines about things than having to deal with it when in power. I think the illegal immigration problems are that a problem no doubt, but I don't like how its conflated into all immigration is a problem when this country has a population to workforce deficit of around 7m that foreign workers fill. That aside, no one has an idea how to deal with it, its an issue shared globally now. I am yet to see a single sensible solution to the problem and the idea that Reform would start an international incident if in power by sinking ships or towing them back to France, as suggested on here is laughable.

If the time comes and Farage becomes PM, so be it, but he will be judged like everyone in that role and I have a feeling he would be gone before the chance became too real for him personally, I could be wrong but I don't think he wants to be Prime Minister.

I agree all except the end part. He spends all his time in the States sucking up to Trump (even when he forgets or ignores him) and Musk (even e says Farage isn't up to the job)

He is doing a lot of shameless boot licking so he can paint more gonads on the sides of bendy buses.

Somtimes council votes are quite the opposite (like US mid terms) lets wait and see what happens.

Reform and the post-Cameron Tories are the same. There's no difference between their ideologies and policies.

Reform mainly exist because the Tories fudged up government for 14 years. So they couldnt offer critical or radical when they were the tired and discredited establishment. So Reform are essentially just a side project to distract everyone from the intellectual and personnel bankruptcy of the Tories.

Nope. People were for sure happy with Boris Johnson's tories and their policies, but party-gate really f**ked them. My personal story: my twin girls were born May 2020. I was told to wait outside the labour ward until she was in full labour. It was red hot and I waited for hours. I was called in, they were born, and I was kicked out again. She came home and we were on our own with a 2 1/2 year old little boy and twin new born with no support and no visitors. But I did what they asked of me, even though part of me thought "is this bullsh*t". I decided I wouldn't vote for them again. Sure as h*ll wasn't going to vote for labour though. And that's what you got in 2024: you got labour actually losing votes from their "worst popularity ever" in 2019 but still emerging with a huge majority due to 1) voters like me that voted tory in 2019 just not turning up and 2) people voting Reform. Suspect a good portion of those that fell into 1) will do 2) at next election along with a good slice of new switchers from both Tory and Labour. And people are not dumb. We don't expect Farage to be anything other than a self-centred narcissist like any other politician. But what we want and expect is 1) we will vote for you not because of who you are or aren't but because we think you're the best chance of implementing what we want to be implemented and 2) do all the narcissistic sh*t you want but don't rub our faces in it. Don't make laws that f*ck people over and then publically flout them in full view.

I’m sorry that you missed that chance with your girls mate. It’s awful. My grandmothers sisters weren’t able to go to my grandmothers funeral when she died. Just a small service 5 of us.

I do have to say though it seems your standards are too low. I think we should demand more of our politicians then being narcissistic but not rubbing faces in it

And at this point we’ve had 5 shades of Tory in 15 years. And really Blair and Starmer aren’t much different

It seems like people keep expecting a particular type of Tory policy is gonna make an impact

We’ve tried little conservative, capital
C Conservative, pro EU conservative, Brexit we conservative

We know from
truss if we appoint a Tory who slashes taxes to minimum investors ironically say “well where’s the money coming from” and it causes meltdown

Now we’ve exhausted all economic options and just have to hope we vote in much more nasty Tory and let him go with one of the economic ppl it’s that hasn’t seen us grown an inch in 15 years

It’s time to say 15 years is long enough. Let us try something different.

We are trying something different. We've got Labour in and it's even worse!

In terms of my standards being 2 low....if I want a car and the only cars available are f***ing sh*t, i still need a car. I chose not to vote last election. So how are my standards low? Most of the time I've voted in my life the biggest motivation is "avoid the worst option". You're not voting for someone, you're voting someone out or your trying to keep someone from getting in...

Too much back breaking hard work for the lazy cow sons over here..........

You do realise that there are parts of the country that are almost all english and all white? The streets still get cleaned. The sewers are serviced and all the back breaking work still goes on?

White english people do brick jobs. If there was less of an influx of cheap foreign labour though, maybe those jobs would be better paid.
