Doesn't the uk own about £100bn of american debt? Be interesting to know how it all balances out.

That's not really the point is it. They are meant to be child care providers for those who need "re-education". Universities don't work for the Tories anymore, since they twigged that academically educated people don't vote for them. So this is the replacement.

The idea that national debt is made up of debt to other countries and that it's all a zero sum that can be cancelled out is a myth invented by swivel-eyed lefties that have no idea how economies work. Far more wishful thinking than, well, thinking.

Most national debt is in bonds to investors. The US, for example has around $35T of national debt and less than $8T of that is owed to nations.

Except it doesn't work and doesn't stand up to the tiniest bit of scrutiny.

The vast majority of national debt isn't owed to other countries and is rarely circular like that. It's all at different interest rates, different yields, etc. Even if national debt weren't mostly privately owned, it still can't just be written off like that.

Students never voted Tory - not even at the proper universities.

Unis don't create conservative voters now because those earning degrees aren't ending up in good jobs and continue to be net recipients from society.

Probably because it's not properly funded like most things, if they were given the funding and resources to properly implement something they'd be a lot more positive.

As it is the policy is half baked but with a bit more thought the 12 month placement for a limited amount of people has potential. In time there's a fair chance it could become highly desired, attendees could learn plenty of valuable skills and employers and uni's would likely link in with it and offer opportunities for those who completed it.

Or just fix schools. Repair all the Gove damage. And not need a 12 month detention class for everyone.

It's not schools that are the problem, it's parents. Ask anyone with any experience in education and the overwhelming response will be that.

I'm all for anything that gets the kids out of their ankle-tagged parents' sphere of influence for a while.

Have HMRC ended their investigation?

Last I heard was the GMP passed over their findings as it was HMRC's domain and not theirs.

Independent, Sky, BBC, Guardian all have HMRC won't comment on individual cases but it is understood .... but Stockport council have said no further action.
 
The Tory henchmen in the media must be gnashing their teeth right now. They are the masters of the distraction, the look over there moment, anything to convince working class people to vote against their best economic interest. And none of their efforts are working!
