Paul Coyte

GBNews stuff is bad enough, but just find him very annoying in general now, yes he's enthusiastic and loves the club etc but yeh, sometimes we just don't need another fudging chat at half time. Enjoyed Monday as the speakers seemed to be fudged and couldn't hear a word of it.

I'm not familiar with GB News and only have a high level understanding of their politics. Is there any evidence that Coyte's personal views are explicitly racist, xenophobic or discriminatory? Similarly, is GB News explicitly and institutionally discriminatory, xenophobic or racist?

I guess what I'm trying to get at here is that GB News is clearly right-leaning as I understand it. Personally, that's not the way I lean politically (generally speaking). However, being on the right is a legitimate political position so we've got to be careful here that we don't ostracise people for taking legitimate but disagreeable positions. That, in itself, is undemocratic.
GBnews is explicitly racist and xenophobic they just mask it by not saying the obvious. watch it it for 5 minutes and their agenda is very clear.

For the sake of discussion because a similar principle is at play over here around James McClean and his recently expressed views on therapy.

Is it right to bin Coyte off for his legitimate political views when they don't impact his ability to do his job at Tottenham?

McLean is a player expressing a personal opinion. He’s been outspoken about other things in the past as well and I am sure that’s made teams stay clear of him. But if, as a hypothetical example Destiny Udogie made those same comments about therapy I don’t think we would be obliged to tear his contract up.

Coytes role is quite specific. I don’t think his role is appropriate for anyone that’s also a political commentator. If it were someone that presented on a left leaning or even neutral channel it would still be the wrong person for the job.
