Paul Coyte

Great to see him back at half time and got a really good reception from the South. Biggest cheer of the day and the only good thing to happen after the half time whistle.

Gbeebies radio not even doing it properly, only music which is predominantly British or Northern Irish.

If you want your little racist circle jerk, do it properly, only play music on which nobody not British was involved and/or credited.

I bet you can’t find enough songs to fill an hour, let alone a day.

Bunch of racist clams, they embarrass us all.

Honestly wouldn't surprise me if it's just another bit of background house-cleaning behind the scenes, feels like there's always something shifting around the club.

I just contacted the club to ask them to consider removing Coyte given that he a public voice of our club yet works as a public voice for an organization that spews hatred and disinformation and would happily discriminate against a large number of our fanbase and employees.

Two things I love about this post.
1) What you did.
2) The fact YOU ARE BACK!!!!!!!!

Great to see you in these parts again my friend, it's been a long time 🩵

Wonder if they’ll be playing Billy Bragg, That Petrol Emotion and Kneecap? 😃

Greensleeves on permanent rotation. None of that African nonsense like a beat or a rhythm allowed

Not sure that's completely accurate. European and British folk music has always featured rhythm instruments and beats, even if classical music from the renaissance onwards evolved beyond being something to dance to and so acquired a more complex relationship with rhythm. And there was always a metrical element in liturgical music, which was essentially poetic.

Coyte should definitely be fûcked off.

The club should have stepped him down when he joined GB News. I do think he has always done a great job at Spurs though.
For the sake of discussion because a similar principle is at play over here around James McClean and his recently expressed views on therapy.

Is it right to bin Coyte off for his legitimate political views when they don't impact his ability to do his job at Tottenham?

It depends. If his views are discriminatory, xenophobic or racist, or he allies himself to people or organisations that harbour and promote such viewpoints, then yes, bin hin off. Especially in light of working for a football club, an organisation that is normally as multi-cultural as you you'll find.

I'm not familiar with GB News and only have a high level understanding of their politics. Is there any evidence that Coyte's personal views are explicitly racist, xenophobic or discriminatory? Similarly, is GB News explicitly and institutionally discriminatory, xenophobic or racist?

I guess what I'm trying to get at here is that GB News is clearly right-leaning as I understand it. Personally, that's not the way I lean politically (generally speaking). However, being on the right is a legitimate political position so we've got to be careful here that we don't ostracise people for taking legitimate but disagreeable positions. That, in itself, is undemocratic.

I always thought the classic line was that modern music (20s blues/jazz onwards) is the fusion of European melody with African rhythm? But even European music is based on instruments largely imported from the middle east.

To my mind music is universal, individuals may prefer differing styles but it reaches all of us in some way. To limit choice reeks of Stalinism to me.

Listening to Andrea Jenkyns will drive them to an early grave. The rest of us can thrive on the joys of Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone and Public Enemy.
