OMT ***Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United***

I refer to away games at ManU. Since 1989, we have only won 2 away matches at ManU : the 3-2 win under AVB in 2013 and 2-1 win under Sherwood in 2014. Pochettino's record 0-1(2015), 0-3(2016), 0-1(2017) and 0-1 this season.

Yeah but you didn’t say that originally

How many teams have won many games at Old Trafford ... not many and there won’t be many this year with them focusing on not conceding

Out of interest, how many points do the rest of the top 6 have against each other over that period?

FWIW...

Since start of 14/15 season (16 games, except ARSEnal & Pool who’ve played 17)

How about acknowledging the massive difference in squad costs over that period?

So in general, we're pretty comparable.

Very annoyed with this defeat. It is clear we are still mentally weak when it comes to playing ManU. Pochettino should look at himself and his tactics as he has now lost all the 4 matches we have played at ManU since he became manager, conceding 6 goals and scoring no goals. Annoyingly, ManU were shyte in all those 4 years including this match. AVB and Sherwood did well to win at ManU in back-to-back years but Pochettino has undone all their good work now. Find it hard to accept that Huddersfield had just beaten ManU last week and we still end up losing to them without scoring.

Maybe we are a one-man team after all, as we have lost both the matches since Kane got injured. Our attack looked toothless and clueless without Kane. Alli had our best chance but he wasted the one-on-one chance in the second half. Son didn't look like scoring all match, always dribbling too much. Llorente again didn't make an impact when he came on.

Our midfield had a decent match but we lacked the cutting edge to win this match. Eriksen had another quiet match apart from the inch perfect pass which Alli should have scored. Sissoko had a mixed match and should have done better with his goal scoring chance in the first half. Dembele didn't have much impact when he came on. This is where we have badly missed the work rate and creativity of Lamela.

Our defence is more at fault for this defeat rather than attack. As soon as I saw Dier starting in defence, knew we are in trouble. Having Dier in defence is like playing with 10 men as he is a liability in defence. Find it annoying that Pochettino is in his 4th season as Spurs manager but he still not yet realise that Dier is too error-prone to be a reliable defender. I think we would have get atleast a draw if Sanchez had started in defence instead of Dier. Thought Pochettino should have settled for draw instead of going all out attack in the closing stages which proved costly. Also, felt we should have started Trippier instead of Aurier as Trippier is now our most creative player this season with 4 assists.

With this defeat, we have now only won 1 match away at top 6 teams in 4 years under Pochettino. Pochettino badly needs to improve our away record at top 6 teams if we want to win the league. For now, we need to recover quickly to face Real Madrid next in CL.

Jesus, I'm as annoyed as anyone by yesterday but I never thought I'd see the above sentence under any circumstances and in any context.

Your next sentence also over simplifies football. In fact, United losing to Huddersfield might have been a bad thing for us because Mourinho was going to ensure they weren't losing two in a row and it may have given their team the kick in the hole they needed.

I just really hope we get a result against Madrid. If we don't, I can see some media attention building especially if Kane doesn't play:

1. 3 losses in a row. Has the bubble burst?
2. Spurs are a one man team.
3. Has Poch doing a book upset the camp?

As significant as the loss of harry is, the bigger loss for this game was wanyama.
Without that shield Dele, son and eriksen are looking over their shoulders to help the defensive.
Also think we really miss lamela for dirty, cheating diving games like this. They Herrera and young got away with murder yesterday.

Oh and smalling clearly has a hold of Dele sleeve when he is through on goal.

We kept on getting to the edge of their box and playing the ball backwards.

We could have won this if we had a bit more belief. I don't know if the problem was a lack of movement upfront versus 3 United centre halfs. I have the feeling that if Kane was in the box the ball would have been played in anyway.

I think we would have looked a better team with Dier in midfield.

If you care what the media says regarding Spurs, you will end up miserable.
Ignore the buggers.
Harry should IMHO be rested until the Arsenal game and that means no England friendlies.

We might have won it if Alli had put the ball to the other side of the keeper. He's not been in his best form. Last season, those touches were coming off. He played well deeper against Pool. Shame Poch couldn't keep that formation.

United were the better side second half and deserved the win. We will kick on again. We should have sat back and took the draw, but hey ho, its a process with this side. How we came out 2nd half wasn't good enough. Poch needed to get them into the mindset that united were going to up their game after a rollocking, and we needed to match them and play at a Madrid level. We also needed to show conviction in the final third.

A learning process for Poch as well as the team. Onwards and upwards.

Leicester and Southampton both performed relatively well away to top 6 rivals in their seasons in the sun, but Spurs have only outperformed Everton, sadly.

Crikey, that makes Spurs look really terrible; half the points at home and only a fifth of points away. Great stat. Whereas Cheatski have 77% at home and 44% away. Over 5 seasons. Sheesh. That leaves us a LOT to do, giving away points to our rivals. And this during our epic epicness

It’s the difference when winning the league

Arsenal always got top 4 from beating the brick teams and that’s our niche now
