*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal FC ***

Must admit as a kid I seen some great keepers so it's a high bar I set.
Not saying Vic is a bad keeper, but I'm not convinced he's as good as a lot claim.
Like a lot of the team he's lost some bounce recently, the buzz is at a seriously low ebb.
At Spurs? How old are you?

If a keeper or a defender carries the ball and smacks it right into a defender, that negates an offside position no doubt. The way I see it, it was a block, not a play/pass the way the ball pinballed from a very hard shot from 10 yards. So by the way the rules are written I have no problem accepting that it was an offside. As long as it is enforced fairly and consistantly.
I think it was offside but I'm trying remember now the goal West Ham scored against us that had a similar deflection from an attempted block to an offside player and that was given. I need to watch it again as if so there's a massive inconsistency there and the WH goal should have been ruled out also.

I just can't seem to have a sensible conversation with an arse fan. Dropped "deserved to win". I weren't gonna let that go. At end of day they won. But how they can just ignore the ref macaronic behavior and poss pens.Us hitting the post. Romero not scoring the 3 times before that. Son having a mere. Disallowed goal.

They score own goal. One open play goal. 2 set pieces. 4 shots on target. They hardly ripped us a new one. Where we gifted them theirs. They can say Raya gifted us a goal but cant say we did the same for all 3 of theirs. Anyway. Im over it. No doubt I will be saying the same brick come Thursday night

We are missing personnel to fit his system. If backed I think Ange can achieve. It's all well and good knowing our tactics but it's a different prospect if we execute them.

Levy needs to pony up the cash...our cash btw..Enic/Tavistock do not risk their money. They just leach off us and our clubs name. Ange ball could be successful if Levy changes a quarter of a century of being a desperately inept football chairman. I won't hold my breath. But with Ange it's always been about the second season.
The don't leach off us. That's what the Glazers do. Not a single penny goes to ENIC. It all get reinvested in the club. The only time they will see money from the club is when they sell it. And Levy is no longer running the football side of things. I get it you're upset with the defeat, but a little perspective doesn't hurt.

.

Hah someone has actually posted it in this very thread. Maybe I should read the entire thread before I comment sometimes. But yeah it's like I thought, their goal was exactly the same and it was given. Hmmmmmmmm
It was posted and deleted because he was onside

Yeh in the 20 mins of reflection I can go with that to a level.

Where I see us falling down isn't really what we do or don't do at the back.its turning domination into scores that dominate and demoralise sides that mean defending becomes easier too. I hate to use this as I've avoided it but we miss Kane and we are allowed to say it, yes the build elsewhere is because of his money but we navigate a season were his presence make us a much much better side, people will say that obvious but I'm talking from the point we sold him and we haven't even attempted to replace him .... to steal a moneyball line...not even in the averages.

Richy comes on and it changes us massively and I also think we can improve on him in the summer, that's how important that role is.

That an what has also become glaringly obvious a true number 6 and this side is pushed on massively.

Summer of a real choice, go bigger or spread the money, I personally go big for two players and fill the gaps with youth
If you use the Moneyball example, we have not only replaced him in the averages, we have exceeded what he contributed in the averages. We are averaging a little over 2 goals per game. The 16/17 season aside, the last time we did that was 60 years ago.

The problem is not replacing Kane. The problem is that we do not have all the pieces in place yet to both play on the front foot and be more assured defensively. Especially when our attacks break down. It's finding the kind of player that will contribute to fewer of our attacks breaking down in such a way that we are left hugely exposed, as well as a player who can mop up better when they do (Micky aside).

It wasn't. We got away with the opposition missing lots of free headers and we also were dominating games better so the opposition has less corners and set pieces then finally we got tumbled when Pep noticed and pinned our keeper ( who I don't really blame tbh). Vicario should have better protection from the outfield players but they are pussys. Just not an aggressive , physical bunch.
Would definitely have played Vdv at LB and brought Dragusin in today.
Saka doesn't score with Vdv there and we have a better aerial presence from set pieces , killing two birds with one stone.
If you play VdV at left back he doesn't mop up the 2-3 breaks they could have had, but for him, because he'd be too far up the pitch.

And Kane defended corners better than our defenders

Now Ange seems to have clipped the boots of the boys with no shots from outside the penalty box, assiginng duties only to Porro, when we know Son and Kulu can curl them in from either flanks.
Show me one passage of play where either Son or Kulu could have gotten a shot off? I was intently paying attention to this all game and I didn't see one chance for a long shot open up, other than Porro's. And even that one was from way way out.

Hadn't deep dived so was wrong there, hands up but we miss a CF figure for presence and being able to play that roll proficiently, Richy proved when he came on what it can do, someone with a sharper eye for goal helps us do that and convert dominance which IMO helps defensively because alot of our issues come from not converting in times of dominance then paying the price, rather tan demoralising the oppo

Someone who is willing to smack the opposition CB or back into them or even… kick them
Imagine having a presence against a side that gives it to you
Richy is an arse to play against and it makes a big difference to the way we press for example

Yeah I can accept that. Just think the rules aren’t clearly written. If they wanted to go into more detail than ‘deliberately played the ball’, your wording is less ambiguous than their bullet points IMO - a block doesn’t count, a pass or clearance [and list any other examples of actions] does.
Isn’t the point in this instance that VDV is adjudged to have been offside when the ball is played to him? He is therefore in an advantageous position when the ball drops to him. Isn’t everything that happens after that (i.e. the rebounds) by-the-by?
