***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur FC v Everton, Sun May 24th, 4.00pm, The Lane***

I will watch, have to take the good with bad.
It should prove to be an interesting experience, not sure how much I will celebrate if we stay up, not sure how devastating relegation will feel.
Have a feeling either will feel like a big anti climax.

The collective misery if we were to go down would be too tough to bare, not to mention the ridicule from the Arse fans that inevitably will be there. But maybe you're right, I haven't been for a while.
Yes, they might give it to you large, but in the end of the day they are Arsenal fans. Something no human would want to be by choice. That is their affliction, and they have to carry it forever. Give them the bird and walk out knowing that they are all related to each other.

Morning all,

Just one more night of waking up at 5am, immediately thinking about Spurs and then feeling sick. Liz Hurley doesn't even get a look in at the moment (I am a man of a certain age)....

Just 36 hours to go before we know our fate..

No way am I doing that, the goons are all treating it like a Tottenham death party.

I thought about not going to see the game. Save money on train and beer. Find somewhere nice to take the dog for a walk etc etc
In some ways relegation would be a fitting denouement to the appalling football we have seen for two seasons, but it would inevitably result in a fair few Spurs employees losing their jobs. And could we guarantee that the spiral of decline would halt if we were in the Championship?
So in for a penny, in for a pound. I'll be there tomorrow, booming out the "Come on you Spurs" from the South Stand as usual, and hoping that lady luck somehow goes our way, I fear we are going to need it.

All sounds a bit of a mess really :

Let's just concentrate on backing and encouraging the team during the match, no matter how things are playing out at any given time.

Much better to get the atmosphere going in the ground than doing the whole coach greet thing, that’s never really felt like “us”, all a bit contrived. Get the atmosphere going organically in the ground like we used to have at the old WHL and the new one on occasions (goons 3-0).
I was thinking about that game a few days ago. 4 years on, looking at the trajectory of both clubs since that night doesn’t make pleasant viewing.

This is true, and is my retort every time an Arse fan gets in my face, how brick wouldn’t it be to be Arsenal? All the red, all the brick punchable faces they’ve had over the years, a brick stadium, brick songs, came from woolwich, cheated their way into the top division etc. My mom got me and my brother an Arsenal scarf after they had come here to play a local team - Lee Dixon scored. A lot of people put down moments like these as the starting point of their fandom. My brother had his scarf hanging in his room, while I put mine in a drawer. It just didn’t feel right. fudging Lee Dixon and that ugly red. Ceremonially burned it in the street a few years later. Bla bla.

Anyways, I can take it, but still not sure it’s worth it.

They spent about half a bn more than us in that time I think and had players like Saka and Martinelli come through the ranks and establish themselves, whilst nailing a few signings like Rice, Odegaard.

We’ve not had anyone come through the ranks and not really nailed a signing, whilst going through a funny old collection of managers in that time. Hopefully if we stay up we can stick and back this manager as he seems to me to be worthy of it (some of his predecessors clearly weren’t).

My daughter had to do an online speed awareness course with Liz Hurley, not that she had a clue who she was at the time. They were all given dire warnings about screenshotting other participants, otherwise I could have sent you exclusive pics. Apparently she was snappy with everybody and made it clear that speeding in a Range Rover was a lesser crime than speeding in cheaper cars.

Madders being available is crucial. The heat will be pretty fierce tomorrow so we won't be able to keep up our intense press imho. Having that creativity in midfield will be important. And big Dom back gives us an option to play 2 up front later on if needed or bring him on of Richy is having a mare.
