OMT Badgers vs Eagles

Stupid players do stupid things
Again
And cost their team mates
This. Our football IQ is macaron level. I see a torrent of stupid footballing decisions from us in every game, decisions that most kids wouldn't make. There is a kind of muscle memory that develops as you grow up playing football, of default actions that you take or don't take in certain situations. It is a developed instinct, experience I guess, of when to take or avoid risk depending on the situation you find yourself in. Our muscle has athrophied.

As much as we were absolute pants in the 1st half of this match, I let out my loudest bark for something small Porro did. He ran up and pushed a palace player over in the middle of the park when the ball had gone about 2 seconds earlier, giving away a free kick. It was pointless, lazy, stupid and counterproductive. It was also not a instinctive reaction or a mistake in the heat of the moment. It was just stupid. If I were the manager, I would have subbed him on the spot. Football is mostly about making the right decisions, as much as technique or fitness. When I watch City, I find it all a little boring as they always make the obvious run or pass - yeah thats the ball game.

Seriously what does anyone see in Simons? I know we are depleted with injuries but someone tell me what they see. Holds on to the ball too long constantly loses it is brushed off the ball so easily. Another bang average journey man. Perhaps he will shine in the championship next season but I doubt it, it will be far too rough and tough for him
I see another player stealing a wage at 200k a week that’s what I see

2 moments for me tonight, sum up the level of our situational football coaching

firstly, the VDV pull after the ball had already gone beyond Sarr

second, Simons getting elbowed prior to a corner and not taking a dive

what the fudge are these guys playing at

Coaching
Or lack of
Could see big signs of it not being there for some time this season (sure people will say last too)
You drill that muscle memory into their brain
Our players seem to play with no brain

What is focused on in training sessions, the ethos of the manager, etc all plays into it. But I think what has happened over the last however long is that the simple stuff is being ignored. Do the right thing on the ball every time or sit on the bench.

How the fcuk have we been this brick for what seems like years now and we’re still not in the bottom 3?

If it’s any consolation, since Russell Martin gifted us our sole league win in the final third of last season we’ve now dropped into down into 18th spot of form table for the past 11 months; having been overtaken by both Sunderland and Leeds 😳

Winning that trophy really helped our winning mentality didn’t it…
Not to mention being hailed a mere five weeks ago as the fourth best side in Europe.

Points won from the last 30 available:
-----------------------------------------
West Ham 14
Palace 11
Leeds 10
Nottm F 10
Wolves 10
Burnley 7
Tottenham 3

Tough night, but it’s only a game. I mean, it’s not as if World War 3 is kicking off.

Oh…hang on a minute…

Fingers crossed that the league gets called off due to WW3 so that gobby Goons shall be denied the title… failing that I shall welcome Armageddon if it should arrive before they get to gloat about being the English first team to complete the quadruple 🙏

First game I've missed. Just watched the highlights. Was a red, but was a bit unfortuneate for VDV, it wasn't much of a tug.

Sacking Frank doesn't seem such a great idea now. I feel like Frank, knowing the side and not needing to get up to speed, would have done better with these winable games. But who knows. The rot had set in. At least under Frank there were some development and we looked like we could turn the corner. Now, I don't see how we win points when so out of shape. Without any consistency, missing so many players.

Sacking Frank was a great idea. Hiring him in the first place was a shocker.

It's sacking Ange that doesn't seem like a great idea. How much lower would he have had us??

Well, we were 17th in a league with three terrible teams in it last season, so probably there or thereabouts, best case scenario.
