OMT Badgers vs Eagles

I actually think we do have the characters to pull us out all things being equal. Porro, Romero, VdV, Pahlinha, Gallagher, Solanke, Gray, Maddison, Deki, Bergvall, Danso. These are all characters I'd want to help win us games. However, there are so many factors at play here that have mired us in this situation that go well beyond the squad. The dynamic around the club just seems wrong at the moment.

I can't see where the next win is coming from. I really can't. The only thing I'm looking towards is the law of averages. We really cannot be this brick for the next 9 games. That'd be 20 games on the bounce, that'd be January - May where we are absolute dogbrick and can't win. That's Derby 2007/2008 levels of brick. We are not that bad.

We just need to break the cycle. And soon. Sometimes, in these relegation battles, that little spark comes from the most unexpected place. Maybe that'll be Anfield...
🤞

Given the injuries our reliance is on Vicario, Porro, Romero and MVDV to lead this ship and between them one is regressing week by week as the keeper, Porro thinks and act like a leader without leading anything and I am sorry but between them, Romero and MVDV will have culminated a 4 games streak of missing games because of Red Cards. The proof is there, these players are not showing up. No one is making that rhetoric up, its there laid our for all to see.

The last two seasons have been littered with players making mistakes or falling asleep at crucial times, we pulled it together for the EL but for me that makes this situation all the more scandalous, they should be ashamed of themselves for this fall off.
Absolutely they should be ashamed of themselves but at the end of the season, not now. Now they have to fudging dig in

If we’re going to discuss shame, the people leaving at half time or the ones I saw heading off on 75 mins should also be ashamed. The club needs us more than ever right now, we can’t just support them when all is rosy and bright

I know people will say fans pay their money and they can do the fudge they want and that’s fine but we can’t get tinkled off with players downing tools if the fans are doing the same

I go to a few port vale games a season and I can assure you none of their fans show up looking to be entertained by some glorious exciting football, they go because they support the club whether it’s going well or extremely brick (like this season!)

I can't help but feel the frequent booing of the players has played its part in all of this too. They are human beings and there must be a part of some of them which thought, "Well, f uck you lot, then."

As I've said before, there is a lot of blame to go around.

100%, I think we have hit peak perfect storm in which you see teams go down. I see West Ham and NF and I just don't see it with them, they are a united front with it all. The issue here is about 8 fold but its ended up where we are, someone is going to have to stand up soon in the playing ranks or we are going down (I think we are destined for it now 100% anyway).

Everything that's going on now with us is the result of so many factors and this is absolutely one of them. We're underperforming and underachieving on an incredible scale. This situation is so much more than "the players aren't good enough".

The relationship between fans and players is badly broken. So many fans don't trust the players and their motives (you can hear it in the stadium and see it online) and I can imagine that being booed off every other week has impacted how the players feel about the club.

That fracture has been there for several years but has really gotten worse in the last 12-24 months IMO.

As I keep parroting, its a perfect storm though

The majority of who would be in our strongest side are either injured or suspended because they are idiots (the suspended not injured)

Of whats left there is a mix, those who are not good enough, those who we don't know enough about to know if they are good enough OR those that are good enough but have dropped off a cliff and are letting themselves down badly.

The facts are, well at least for me, there isn't one player who I think currently is playing to any kind of level or I can hang any kind of hope onto, if thats ability or application it all adds up to the same thing regardless.........

This is the corollary of building a £billion stadium designed to be a tourist attraction which is full of day-trippers and influencers most matches… nWHL is basically the Dubai of PL and is similarly being exposed as merely being a sham which everyone wants out of before the brick really hit the fan.

Yeah but if thats true it would affect the home form? ;)

So true. Look on Insta and there are literally dozens of “influencers” there at each game. It’s become a place to vlog rather than a sporting arena, and that dilutes the atmosphere. The Forrest supporter had it right last week, saying the average fan isn’t wanted as they’re too noisy, won’t conform and don’t buy the chunky season tickets. Not that that should matter tbh as I had an 1882 ticket because I couldn’t get anything else and the atmosphere around me was just as good, but the general point stands

after Souza’s yellow card tackle I just had this sinking feeling we’d get a player sent off last night. Micky really did fudge us over there, he and Romero will need to have a look in the mirror if the worst does happen.

Perhaps that infamous 1-4 defeat which heralded the end of Postecoglou’s honeymoon really did instil a permanent shift in mindset which still permeates our team and partly explains this reckless behaviour from our leadership group.

In the PL since start of 2023/24 season we’ve accumulated 234 bookings plus 9 red cards,

Compared to the previous 3 seasons when our players were
booked 188 times and received 6 red cards.

I do not remember ever seeing a Spurs team team where the majority of players seem so low on confidence as they are showing now. It does happen but not to so many of them as it is at the moment.. We have good players of that i have no doubt but for what ever reason they [ or most of them] seem frightened of the ball.

I have said for weeks that i could not see us getting relegated [ and i still believe that] however we really need to start showing some fight because at the moment they seem to think its allready over.

I have seen us relegated in the past but we have far better players now who are just not performing, those who are regulars on here will know that one of my biggest gripes over the last decade or so is that we change managers far too often and its has sadly lead us to this.

I think most of these players have checked out. And the fans can see it. And that’s why they boo when we lose. Every single week. No fight. No passion. No dedication. No one seems to care.

I see both sides of the booing argument, I really do. But this lot are ending awful on the field and I am entirely unsurprised at the result. Let’s not forget these players are stealing a living out of this - a very, very, very good one at that. Meanwhile, the fans are paying lord knows what to come to games.

Treat the fans like customers and expect customer style feedback…

The reality is they’re all we’ve got for the next nine games.

Perhaps that’s why TFL are dragging their heels about upgrading the rail service to WHL, out of concern they’ll make it far too easy to escape nWHL thus costing ENIC £millions in revenue due to fans leaving early who might otherwise spend money drowning their sorrows 🥴

So just got around to watching the YouTube highlights. My first question is how is Strand Larsen allowed to use his hands and arms in that way (on Danso) and that isn't called out as the first offence by VAR? I mean, how many more times do we need to see the on-pitch and video-refs just blatantly ignore the laws of the game in this way?

Whether Danso was or wasn't strong enough or didn't jump, that is totally irrelevant when making the correct assessment.

How is it any different from what VDV did next?

Strand Larson pushed Danso far more than Muani pushed Gabrielle.

Yep, and Sarr's arm is up and his hand is in VDV's face. Is that now allowed as well?

It is going to take something massive to shake the core of PGMOL. I think it will happen eventually but right now I despair at what I see week in, week out from Webb's organisation. It is total corruption.

Because that’s where VDV put it, no excuse for that one.

We have many many examples of being fudged over by inconsistent officiating this season though.

I fear the West Ham turnaround could be key, not getting a pen when the ball was punched away from Gallagher, then not getting the FK when Vic was assaulted from the corner.

I could see logic in appointing Tudor and said it at the time. His win % in every job, his ability to firefight etc. So I won't be Captain Hindsight and hammer the board for appointing him. Of all the fudging stupid things they've done, that's near the bottom.

Keeping him now would be crazy though. The players are neither playing for him or look like they believe we can win. He's talking the club and the players down in public. He hasn't given us any bounce at all - we've looked worse since he's come in. I said it against Woolwich, you could literally see the players didn't know who should be pressing at times. We've gotten worse from there. There is absolutely nothing, nothing to hang your hat on with Tudor.

I'm sure he has his qualities as a manager. He has the record to prove that. But it hasn't worked here and we don't have the time or games to give it the sort of chance any normal club would be giving a manager. We'll look clueless and panicked if we do it but we are clueless and panicked. The board has to act today IMO or we are in more danger of relegation and they are in more danger of seeing billions wiped off the value of the club.

They run this club like a business. If this was happening in a business, you'd give the guy a few quid and wish him well on his way.

There has been so much of that to the detriment of the human side of the game. I have oft been laughed at about my 'aura lemons' agreement with Poch (the principle anyway) but we have royally F UCKED UP on the INTANGIBLES OF FOOTBALL FOR TOO MANY YEARS..apologies for shouting, not at you, I just realised how true it is and how long I've felt that way...

One we've seen for ages yet refuse to address. The final straw was not making a managerial change BEFORE January and NOT signing any short-term Prem-hardened Jan players to get us through this latest part of said-storm. These idiots were so busy calculating margins versus 'the plan' that they lost sight of what was going on in front of their very eyes. You have to take care of fundamentals first. Besides, we are already top-heavy with young talent; get some experience in there! A Milner or Henderson would be invaluable right now.
