Possibly. But a medical was booked which means the fee and payment structure were agreed
I've always presumed if a medical had been arranged the transfer had been agreed in principle.
Possibly. But a medical was booked which means the fee and payment structure were agreed
The early reports suggested it was even from a Nottingham Forest perspective until the owner got involved. So it would make sense if true why the medical was booked and why the transfer was initially reported as done having hit the release clause.I've always presumed if a medical had been arranged the transfer had been agreed in principle.
This is what I don't get if we've booked a medical then surely Forest have given us permission to do so
You wouldn't do that if everything wasn't agreed
We don't know the details apart from spurs thought it was good to go. Forest didn't.
Well it seems you miss lots of details in the discussion so just wanted to make sure you didn't miss that one this timeSorry did you say if...

Nobody really knows do theyNot sure if posted already but saw somewhere that the Greek oik was tinkled off because MGW was meant to be a part exchange with City rather than just a straight transfer and him wanting to go to us was spoiling that, rather than anything genuinely to do with contracts and clauses.
They thought it was good to go until the owner got involved.
The sourcing from their side was a tone of resigned disappointment, but only turned into righteous anger a day or so later.
For all we know, we may have just done that. Fact is no one knows what exactly happened and the dribs and drabs coming out really don't shed any light on the specifics. We'll find out eventually. In the meantime, we can continue to make brick up.Not sure why didn't just play the game and start with a 50m bid, increase it to 55m and then 60m. Hitting the 60m would've then triggered the release clause and we just go "oh, there's a release clause, great". Something seems strange about the whole thing.
It's one thing to say that Forest's valuation is £60m, but another that there's a £60m release clause, though.Just shows that this supposedly confidential information was already in the public domain a year ago. There would be no grounds to claim THFC have misused confidential information (as some Spurs fans have suggested!). I get the Forest fans being sore and making accusations, but don't get our fans suggesting Spurs have abused confidential information illegally. These tweets from a year ago should put that notion to bed, as the information wasn't confidential, and looks like it was in the public domain for a year at least.
If Forest are not honouring the release clause in MGW's contract, that is more contentious isn't it? They would be in breach of contract, and surely open to be pursued legally, certainly by the player, and possibly by THFC as the bidder?
What if they are one and the same thing … the universe is now at peaceIt's one thing to say that Forest's valuation is £60m, but another that there's a £60m release clause, though.
Something that most fans are good at and do all the time. For all we know, we may have just done that. Do we know for sure the owner got involved? I don't see it mentioned anywhere. Everything is stated in terms of the club reneging, not Marinakis. Not that it isn't plausible that he's behind it, but it's interesting that his name isn't mentioned anywhere other than Spurs' forums speculating he is.The early reports suggested it was even from a Nottingham Forest perspective until the owner got involved. So it would make sense if true why the medical was booked and why the transfer was initially reported as done having hit the release clause.
Aren't journalists themselves inherently aggregators? It's not like they create original content (excepting long form journalists), they just compile information from divers places. And all the aggregators are obviously all over it. What did he think would happen?![]()
Did it? All i heard was here we go. He's due a medical tomorrow. That never happened because forest said they hadn't given permission and were making a complaint. No couple of days in between.
Yes. Because they thought spurs had triggered the release clause so the deal was basically done. Forest then said no.I was reading the journos with a line into Forest the day it was announced, and then the day after. You can see the tone shift.
