Well a lot of off the cuff stuff is trained out of footballers now from a young age. Watch my lad play under 6s they'd start a game 3 v 3, GK and 2 wide. Had to pass. Any attempt at something unorthodox e.g. taking on their man or lobbing keeper whistle was blown and "back to starting positions" with the player attempting it dressed down until they're basically robots. I do think moder. football is incredibly dull to watch compared to say 20 years ago as a result. So many "chess matches" with very little improvisation.
Under sixes? Talk about sucking the joy out of the game. Next you'll be telling me they don't use jumpers for goalposts, isn't it? Hmm?

Our 1v1 trainer has printed just that, doesn't say a word to our strikers, just shoves that in their faces before going out on the pitch.

Occasionally he will just scream "TWITCH THE fudging EYEBROW!" from the sidelines - still the ball sometimes hit the goalie.
Yeah but the goalie hears that and twitches his eyebrow and it’s a lottery at that point.
