Luka Vuskovic

If Brighton is the best move he can get one of the most sought-after young players in Europe then I think his agent is doing a terrible job.
On the contrary I think a young player would prefer to play for Brighton than Spurs nowadays. The fact that they are after a young player is often confirmation that they see something in that kids future and they will get a chance to play.

Let’s not pretend we don’t give chances to young players. Our player of the season is 20 years old. I don’t know that he deserved the accolade but that’s a different matter.

We decided to give Vuskovic a loan thinking that that was the best move for his future so that he was getting first team football. Maybe we had agreed with him previously to let him play at Hamburg as clearly there are close connections there.

It’s what happens next that’s key. I would like him to be getting starts for us and for him to prove he’s ready. But if he doesn’t want to fight for his place in the starting lineup, if, maybe that speaks volumes about his mentality. I don’t know. Let’s see what happens from here as right now there’s a lot of talk and that’s about it.

There’s a lot of talk about a lot of players each summer. That’s how the media works to earn their summer money. But a low percentage of that amounts to anything. So let’s see and hopefully the fears are allayed and he stays with us and is introduced into the full squad.

A team where he will get a significant rise on his current Spurs salary, play first team PL football and then likely be sold for very big money (and a comparable very big salary) to a top team 2 years later. The agent seems very good to me.

Or go to a club that is effectively holding a player with one year on his contract hostage.
And if Van hecke doesn't leave it's less playing time for your client.
I don't think this is anything other than Brighton playing silly beggars, but in a usual spurs style the fans and media are falling for it.
Holding him hostage?….Seriously?…

I’ve no doubt that they will sell Van Hecke, they just don’t have to sell him for our current bid. I suspect he’ll end up going (to us or another club, bigger than Brighton) for around £40m and the player getting a very nice wage bump at the new club.

I thought all Ornstein said was that a £30m bid had been made. Other sources then came out and said the player wanted to move.

I find Ornstein the most reliable transfer journalist in the country.
Ornsteins post on X said: "EXCL: Brighton & Hove Albion make £30m offer to sign Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur. 19yo #THFC talent among Europe’s most coveted players but Croatia defender favours #BHAFC as best step for development + mutual trust with Hurzeler @TheAthleticFC"

But we also know the 'mutual trust with Hurzeler' was made up flimflam based on them 'knowing each other from the time in the Bundesliga' last season when one of them was not actually in Germany last year.

When he went to Hamburg last year Vuskovic said:

“Yes, [Spurs] offered me an option to stay, to play in case of injury or cup matches, but I wanted continuous minutes. They have [Cuti] Romero and [Micky] van de Ven playing there, two of the best centre-backs in the world at the moment. I believe in myself, but it’s really difficult to play next to them. I’ve faced them and I realised that I still have to work harder. A lot of work and a little luck, so I’ll be back. I didn’t want to be just a number. At Tottenham, they told me what they expected and offered in terms of sport and that prevailed, the plan they put before me.”

This season, is he more or less likely to be willing to accept 'fighting for his place' if he isn't guaranteed 'continuous minutes'? There has been plenty of talk during the season about the 'top' teams interest in him so I very much doubt that he sees a long term future at Spurs.

Then we as a club have failed if we are not deemed a top club. We built the facilities, we built the infrastructure, we have epically failed on the footballing front. And yet the likes of Lange appear to have a job for life in spite of last season.

Tbf from his POV he sees us trying to sign 2 CBs ...so might just think, 'am I in their plans next season' ?

Also we don't know what contact he and RDZ have had so far?

Millions of words have been written about how we have failed over the last ten years and who is to blame for it. Does anyone seriously think that we are currently 'deemed a top club'? Come to that when were we a really top club? Now we're miles away. Even if we are able to bridge that gap, it will take multiple seasons. In the meantime we have to deal with the reality of our failure. If we are lucky enough to have players who look capable of playing at the very highest level, we will have to endure constant speculation about those players leaving and if they are given the opportunity that they will choose to do so.

It's no more serious than some of the other rubbish in this thread.

Would show a level of progression and planning for me, get to the PL for two years and keep moving in a straight direction, meaning he will be at a super power all going well by 20/21 (if of course there was any truth in the Brighton rumours)

But again, why not take a loan for a year and then re-evaluate where he stands with Spurs after a year of PL experience? That’s what I’m not following here? Why the push for a permanent move? Why the talk of ‘mutual trust’ with another manager?

Are we really less likely to sell than Brighton? I guess if he was viewing us as the stepping stone to Bayern and sees that he won’t play with us, and he’s ready in his mind, Brighton makes sense. I just still don’t get the need for a permanent move,

And I still maintain there’s a level of difference in the quality of move you can get by succeeding at Spurs, versus Brighton.

I also think a lot of this agent posturing is coming when RDZ hasn’t been able to watch him for one single training session. Maybe RDZ’s mind is already made up, but the definitiveness of a permanent move makes less sense to me.

No one knows, I am just offering up ideas based on others, questions. Beyond that no one knows
