Luka Vuskovic

He's exciting. It's pre season. So there's probably room for cautious but strong optimism.

I wonder if his eye for goal would make him a better DM in the longer term. I know is fans say this alot with young CBs but it's just a thought.

Also is he quick?
I'd say that having an eye for a goal isn't really something that defines a good DM, I think the qualities to play as a DM are far more about being able see and close down space and danger when the opposition have the ball, and when we're in possession, the ability to move into space to receive a pass, be able to receive the ball under pressure either facing own goal or on the half-turn, have great close control, have ability to be able to carry the ball and also having the vision and execution of being able to make short or long passes, being able to receive and play the ball with either foot.

Where though? He can't go to another EPL club, so somewhere like Leverkusen or Dortmund are the only moves he'd likely get sufficient development from.

He just seems the perfect profile for our 4th CB, at least until Dragusin returns and we can then review the two of them in comparison.
Championship could be great for him.

Didn't they put up his stats from last season, basically lead defensive actions, headers in both boxes and clearances. I get there is an eye test but for a 17 year old, there is clearly a very good player in there.

Can we not enjoy some optimism without people wanting to constantly burn down the house
He is indeed very good for 18, but how many 18 year olds play centre back in the premier league. Him going away and playing regularly in English football is likely to be far better for us and him long term. We'd probably have to be careful what Championship club we sent him to as I'm not convinced he would be a reasonably guaranteed starter for a number of the clubs at that level.

Because it's good level exposure for his development. It worked well for him last year, so he goes again
Indeed.... Because real mens football is MASSIVELY different from age level football. Dorrington probably isn't yet good enough to play regularly in the Championship, so playing first team football in the Scottish PL is very good for him, especially with the pace and physicality of the game up there, which is very different to what he is used to in age group football.

Vuskovic is way too big to play DM IMO. That's more a scurrying agile role, where you need to be able to turn a lot. Vuskovic is 6'4" and bulky.

That's why I was also saying De Winter could be an option.

Wiki - A pretty versatile player, De Winter can play as a central defender, a full-back on both sides, a defensive midfielder or even as a mezzala.
(Mezzala is that centre mid role alongside a central 6.)

I don't know anything about him but have seen links for a while. He's taken over from Toby as the Belgium RCB apparently. 6'3" as well.

Watch this space.

I agree that he isn't a defensive midfielder. There are a few ways to play as a defensive midfield player of which the scurrying agile type is one but not the only one.
