Lucas Bergvall

Hmm, feels like these 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st stats are made up.

Is Bergvall really 1st in the PL in those items listed? All of them? Crosses, accelerations, all of them?
Those kind of lists are typically cherry picked. Pr 90 or total, find a handful + out of the very many individual stats that makes the player look particularly good.

Can only do that if a player is doing well enough. So it tells us he's done well, we already knew that though.

I suppose the only thing which matters is that Bergvall is the 1st name on our team sheet based upon current form.
Du you think he is that?

I'm kinda doubtful. Think he's still in that "if the circumstances are right" category, but the circumstances are widening.

Also curious what the plan is going forward with him. If we'll see him deployed a bit deeper like last season or if the more attacking of the midfielder is the role Frank sees as his best.

I really like Sarr, and for some games he's absolutely a nailed on starter. But would find it interesting to see a midfield trio of Palhinha, Bergvall and Simons at some point

I think I'd be happiest if we keep rotating this midfield AND getting results. There seemed to be a lot of narratives last season that our midfield wasn't good enough and it only worked if the best eleven was on the pitch. So many of us called out the manager's tactics. I've even read narratives this season exclusively providing credit to Palhinha as if one 30 year old can make the single difference. They were more the corner case though, not the common opinion.

In reality, Frank knows what he's doing with these guys. We've seen the main 4 (Bents, Pal, Berg and Sarr) do well this season. Frank will be keen to grow that number of contributors to 6 or 7 so we can really manage the workload. That could even include Biss as he returns to full fitness but will hopefully also include Gray. As for Xavi, it would be really interesting to see him more centrally.

Bs stats that are meaningless. He's probably first in most hairs on his right knee aswell.
Agree with that, stats are a tool but they RARELY tell the whole story. Used by some to try and push a narative onto fans who take them in and believe them all.

Our midfield was definitely unbalanced last season. And has been so this season too. Particularly on the ball/attacking I'd argue it's our biggest weakness at the moment.

Palhinha has made a significant difference. But he can't fix the stuff he isn't good at.

Really hope Gray continues to be given significant minutes and that he keeps developing. Really wonderful player in the making.

Could not agree more he is what we have missed from our CM for a while. In a lot of games last season you could drive a truck through our CM [ lots of times opposing teams did just that]. As you say he is not going to provide moments of magic [ that is not what he is there for] but he gives our CM some stability which we badly needed.

We have signed some really exciting/talented players in the summer for sure but his coming has finally filled a massive hole in our CM.
