Liverpool thread

Why do you think you're in any sort of position to decide how someone should feel about the sudden death of a friend that they spend just about literally every day with?

It's only because it's a rival football club. That's the only reason you think you're in that position.

Because I've lost family members and friends who ive know for over 40 years and been with them on most of the major points in each others lives. Life has to go on as you will have other equally important people needing you. I found being in my work place helped me cope with the lose.

Right. That’s you. Surely your experiences have also taught you that everyone grieves differently. Being in your workplace may well help…in this case, their workplace is where they’re reminded of it most.

I have no idea how much it’s affecting individuals or the team. My only point is that no one else knows. To write it off as an “excuse” is just so bewildering to me…and again, the only conclusion I can come to is because it’s a rival team.

The other conclusion I can make, in absence of a link or more information from @kb 1984, is that Liverpool or a representative of them have indeed never actually even said it’s the reason for their form. So it’s just more partisan nonsense from fans, looking to get whatever they can over a team they don’t like.

Wolves Atletico Madrid porto played for them & would have made friends for life don't see them out complaining or using it as an excuse
Imagine this in your own life; Losing a friend, who you spent almost every day with for a number of years, is a bit different to losing a friend you spent time with before, but haven't had regular contact with for the last couple of years.

People react in different ways. Just because you react to something in a certain way, doesn't mean that's how everyone else does. Typical tunnel vision logic.

Weird thing for him to come out with publicly but it feels like we don't have all of the information here. I also wouldn't dare play down the affect Jota's death had on the squad as a whole or any individuals.

I am sure we don't have all the information, but his behaviour is pretty unforgivable as a highly paid professional who is basically one of the senior figureheads at the club. He has really disrespected the manager and his teammates IMO. Remember there were loud rumours he fell out with Klopp too. I think it's very poor form, and if it were one of our players I'd be pretty fudged off.

I don't disagree at all...seems a terrible decision to air it publicly. It'll be interesting to see the fall out -- I assume he'll never be in a Liverpool squad again.

He's off to the AFCON next week and if Egypt progress then could be there until mid January... so there's a decent chance he's already played his last game!

You could and probably are right but the club and fans do like to be portrayed as mayters in the media. I've always found individual Liverpool fans ok, unfortunately like most large groups of fans they're unbearable when together.

Don't have to imagine

Ultimately we all know the hardship of losing someone close and yes it impacts everyone differently. I lost a mate from suicide and it hit me hard and still does to an extent, however, and as harsh as it sounds, everyone gets a level of leeway with grief, we all do or at least should from those around us and work etc, however there is a point where the harsh reality is, it can't be a long term excuse for a long decline in performances, that not me being harsh, that just realistic
