Levy's Plan

We've been spending money since the stadium was built.

don't disagree, but it's the timing

- We got a decent base team that's young
- We are back in Europe/CL
- We have got a new manager and got him full backroom staff
- We are now signing established PL player including, just push the release clause and move.

It feels like understanding the moment in ways we haven't in the past (not just spend)

I don't think we're doing anything unexpected - i always felt that when we were in a place that we needed fewer players then we would see these sorts of transfers. We've spent a few seasons turning around the squad where it was maybe a case of having to buy prospects/smart buys vs more expensive proven players due to the numbers needed - i expect our transfer spend net to be similar to what it has been post stadium build but with there being less players coming in but with a higher average cost.

1 more in at the level/cost of Kudus & MGW and then one or two at a lower price.

If things work out this season then I reckon we'd see a couple coming in next summer at a higher average cost per player again.

That would follow what I have always considered to be the plan.

CL money definitely helps expedite that plan though, both in budget and attractiveness.

Yes and credit to Ange for getting us in this position.

The CL money while guaranteed isn't banked till end of season so I'm not sure how much that is playing a part atm - although if the release clause for MGW is CL club specific then regardless that's already baring fruit.

I don't think there's anything mind-blowing about it.
We reset how we thought we could be successful (with large consideration of who we are up against). Set course and are trying to stick with it. It could be argued that the moves we are making might only be enough to keep us relevant.
But what we are hoping is these longer strands of planning come together into something that is great BUT we've been able to afford, with patience being a big element of that affordability. While trying to be our smartest at all times.
