Of course, I do the same, but I have made sure I have taken part of that out of others hands by having my own personal pension. In terms of war etc, I live in hope, I can't let things I can't control consume me beyond that

Few of us can control our society we don't independently have enough money to buy influence.
I've not personally been involved in any of the issues I mentioned but feel i have no trust in those in control of monitoring them and great sympathy for those who are their victims.

IMO, the Silicon Valley oligarchs control way too much of our society already and their influence is still growing. For our tech overlords, their endgame is quite a bit different from ours. The continued existence of the nation-state is not part of their plans. Democracy is something to be culled. That they control SM, large swatches of legacy media, AI and all that 'good' stuff is beyond dangerous. We are just peons to them, and unless something happens to rein them in, you may end up just an adjunct of Weyland-Yutani, NationX or Meta Corp. Sounds barmy, but they don't hide their intention that corporate dictatorship is the plan. They spout this flimflam at their conference speeches all the time.
